Monaghan’s Ulster SFC success was marked on Thursday night when seven of the county’s players were named in the 2013 Irish News Ulster All-Star team. Goalkeeper Rory Beggan, defenders Colin Walshe, Drew Wylie and Dessie Mone, midfielder Darren Hughes and forwards Kieran Hughes and Conor McManus were all selected, matching Monaghan’s previous best result in the 19 years of the awards and taking the total number won by the county to 18. The rest of the team was made up of four players each from Cavan and Tyrone, who also got the Player-of-the-Year award for Seán Cavanagh. Congratulations to Monaghan’s magnificent seven!
