The lads have worked extremely hard this year and have shown remarkable character against stronger opposition. Irrespective of the result go along to Pairc Naomh Mhuire and cheer on the lads because they deserve our backing so show your support for the remaining league games.

Country Night – Tickets on Sale now!!

Tickets are now on sale from all Committee Members for the “Rock Country Night”, so If you’re looking for the best darn County & Western music, it’s going to be right on your doorstep on 11th October 13.  We have assembled the finest singers from the village and surrounding areas to perform their favourite Country & Western classics. No other night does it like “Rock Country” with great songs performed by great singers.

To Shave or not to Shave?

One of our leading players and all-time greats Anthony “Tayto” Tate will be celebrating his 40th birthday on Saturday 19th October. Along with celebrating the big FOUR ZERO Anthony wanted to do something meaningful and worthwhile and has decided to go down a different road and raise money for charity by holding a sponsored beard shave with all proceeds being donated towards two charities, namely the Irish Heart Foundation and the Cootehill Community Cancer Support Group. Along with Anthony, three other brave men, Dwayne Rooney, Martin Carroll and Aidan Sheridan have decided to take the plunge and not shave for the next five weeks and they will get their mighty whiskers shaved all for name of charity. Personally, I think this is a really fantastic gesture and I would urge everyone, including family and friends, to get behind this wonderful idea and support the lads. They all have sponsored cards and you will also see sponsored cards in local shops and pubs so please donate whatever you can afford they would really appreciate your support.

Gerry’s Prepared Veg – Under 14 Shield Final.

Augnnamullen was the venue for our Under 14, Div 4, Shield Final on Saturday last.  Aghabog provided the opposition.  Unfortunately, we made a poor start by conceding early goals which left us with an uphill battle.  But, in fairness to the boys, battle they did and our performance improved as the game progressed.  However, a stronger more balanced Aghabog side got the goals at the critical times.  Well done to all the players who committed strongly to the team throughout the long season.  Thanks to Conor, Anthony and Sean for the countless hours you spent with this group of players.  Thanks also to our First Aider, Marian Larmer.  While we have no silverware to show for our endeavours we are happy that our players are developing and will, in a short few years, be representing the club at adult level.  Sincerest thanks to our ‘catering staff’ of Tini Rooney, Ann Carroll, Ann Lynch, Martina McKeown and the Clerkin men who provided the food in St Mary’s Hall after the final.  Another great meal, following on from the ‘feast’ they provided after the Under-12 Final on the previous Saturday.  The full panel was as follows:  Shane Greenan, Ryan Lynch, Conlath Keenan, Sean Markey, Pauric O’Brien, Garreth Smyth, Kyle Brannigan, Caoilan McPhillips, Morgan McGeough, Shane Farrelly, Brandon Reilly, Aaron Smyth,  and Gerry Larmer.

Terence Reilly Memorial Sield

A four team Under 10 Tournament for the Terence Reilly Shield will take place in St Mary’s Park, Rockcorry, this Saturday, 28th September 13.  Teams taking part will be Aghabog, Cootehill, Drumhowan, and Rockcorry.  Teams are asked to be ready to start the two semi-finals at 2pm sharp.  Beaten semi-finalists will play off for third and fourth place to run concurrently with the final.

All games will be of 30 minutes duration.  Refreshments will be served afterwards.

Charity Climb

Best wishes to our club P.R.O., Michael Carroll, who is currently undertaking the Everest Challenge in aid of  the Irish Heart Foundation.   We’re all supporting you Mickey, and admire your motivation and determination to complete this adventure for such a good cause.
