U-12 –“It is not the size of a man but the size of his heart that matters.”– Evandor Holyfield. These words were never more in evidence than on Saturday last in Blackhill when our U-12 team came back from an 8 point deficit to win the Div 2A cup Final. At a time when the game looked to be slipping away from Eire Og in the 3rd period, the boys and girls showed great heart and character to dig deep to win the game on a scoreline of 4-15 to 5-05. This team deserve great credit as each and every player worked extremely hard throughout the hour, and especially pleasing was the level of skill and teamwork that they showed. Well done to all players and mentors!!  The club would also like to thank all the parents for their support on Saturday and indeed throughout the season. A full list of the winning panel will follow in next week’s edition of the paper.

U-16 – Hard luck to our u-16 footballers who were defeated by Aughnamullen in the semi final of the league on Sunday last. A combination of missed opportunities on our part and the ability of Aughnamullen to take their chances when they presented themselves was the difference on the day. Final score Aughnamullen 3-14 Eire Og 2-07. Thanks to everyone involved for their efforts throughout the year.
