U-14 – The U14 were out on Saturday last in the semi final of the league away to Corduff. Unfortunately things did not go our way and we could not match Corduff for hunger and intensity. All at the club would like to thank this group of players and their management for their commitment and dedication throughout the year. This team really lifted the club at the beginning of the summer when they won the U 14 championship, so well done lads and a very big thank you.
U-16 Ladies –Congratulations to our U16 ladies who won the division 2 B League Title on Thursday last. The game was played in wet and windy conditions in Cremartin. Playing against a strong windy in the first half Eire Og battled hard to be only two points behind at the interval. (Eire Og 1-00 Corduff 0-05)
Eire Og came out at half time and played as a united team to whittle away the Corduff lead and go a point in front. Some tenacious tackling kept the Corduff team scoreless in the second half. Despite some questionable decisions by the referee, Eire Og ladies showed true character to close the game out scoring a goal and a point in the last five minutes.
This victory demonstrated the true spirit of the team who were undefeated the whole season. Final score Eire Og 2-04 Corduff 0-05.

Div 3 Reserve Final – Pride of our parish this week undoubtedly lies with our reserve league team who were crowned Div 3 league champions on Friday night last in Emyvale, courtesy of a thrilling win over Blackhill. Under the stewardship of Eddie Johnston, Ray Cassidy and John Behan the team came good at the right time to win the match on a score line of Eire Og 2-04 Backhill 1-06. Standout performers on the night were Padraig Nolan, Ollie Treanor, and Christopher McGorman but it took the complete panel of players to get the team over the line. Congratulations to all involved

Sympathy – Our club suffered a major loss on Sunday evening last with the untimely death of one of our most loyal supporters Gerry Lambe following an illness. Gerry gave many years of outstanding service to the club and was always willing to step forward to help out in many capacities from fundraising to umpiring matches. Gerry was a true GAA person in all aspects. Supporting our adult team brought its fair share of disappointment & defeat yet Gerry travelled on, for he was not a fair day follower. Gerry was in it for the long haul because his heart was in it. Gerry’s popularity was evident from the huge numbers that attended his funeral, both the removal of his remains from his home, and the funeral mass followed by burial. Club member’s former a guard of honour when his remains arrived at St Mary’s Church in Magherarney and his coffin was draped in the blue and gold colours of his beloved club. We extend our deepest sympathy to his wife Alice, sons Martin and Enda and all of his extended family. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a ainm.
