St. Pats celebrate U16 league success
U-16 Division 1 League Final- St Pats 6-11 Donaghmoyne 2-16. St Pats won the double in a very high scoring and exciting game against a never say die Donaghmoyne side on Saturday last. This was a high quality game with scores a plenty and both attacks generally on top. They say goals win games and this was certainly the case as St Pats scored six to emerge winners. This has been a fantastic season for this dedicated group as they have won the double which is a very hard thing to achieve. Well done to the panel of players and the management team of Martin Duffy, Gavin Sheridan, Colm Duffy and Enda Monaghan who had the boys in tip top shape all season.
Drumhowan – U14 League Finalists 2013
U-14 Div 4 Final – Killeevan 4-16 Drumhowan 2-11 – Killeevan ran out worthy winners in the league final in sunny Blackhill on Saturday week last. They were a more older, bigger and physically stronger team against a Drumhowan team that had six under 11 players. Still our boys competed well over the hour and can hold their heads up high. We spurned a few goal chances in quarter three which may have took us back into the game. It has been a good season for this team with them having won the championship earlier in the summer. Well done to all the panel for their commitment all season and to the management team of Anthony Brennan, Padraig Duffy, Francis Mc Mahon and Paul Mc Guirk for all their time and effort spent with the boys.
U12 Div 1B Final – Inniskeen 2-12 Drumhowan 1-6 Hard luck to our under 12 side who were defeated in the final by a physically stronger Inniskeen side in a wet and windy Sarsfield Park on Saturday week last. With ten minutes to go the sides were level and the game hung in the balance. However it was the young Grattans who finished stronger and their subs made a big impact when they came on. Drumhowan went in at half time a point behind with James Mc Adam having found the Inniskeen net midway through the first period and with both Gerard Quinn and Shay Treanor in fine form we went in at the break only a point down. Some good scores from Aodhann Brennan put Drumhowan in front early in the second period and it was end to end stuff for the first ten minutes until Inniskeens strong finish to run out worthy winners. Thanks to all the the panel and mentors for giving us great excitement this year and we look forward to a great future for this bunch of footballers. Well done to team mentors Anthony Brennan, Padraig Duffy, Sean Smith and Barry Tomany for all their hard work and coaching with this group. Afterwards the panel and suporters went back to The Comunity Centre for refreshments. The panel on the day was
Philip Mc Shane, Gerard Quinn, Joseph Duffy, Caoilin Reilly, Dara Mc Elearney, Lee Treanor, Patrick Quinn, Shay Treanor, Cormac Duffy, James Mc Adam, Aodhann Brennan,Lauren Duffy, Angie Mc Guirk, Lorna Mc Guirk, Ciara Mc Adam, David Barry, Mark Tomany, Orla Brennan, Conor Finnegan, Eimear Quinn, Johnathan Lavelle, Ciaran Keenan, Ruadhann Curran.Under 11 Emyvale BC Tournament – Drumhowan won the shield competition on Saturday morning last. They emerged out of a group with wins over Cullaville and Killeevan. They then defeated Clones in the quarter final before meeting an excellent Rosslea side in a very exciting semi final where we won. The final was against Toome and we won on a scoreline of 8 scores to 3. Team captain Lee Treanor lifted the shield and it helped to lift some of the dissapointment of the previous two weekends. Well done to the panel of players and to the management team. Thanks also to the Emyvale club for the invite, the hospitality and welcome we recieved. Photos of the event can be seen on
emyvale.net. Well done to all concerned.
