Lotto – There was no winner of the €11000 jackpot this week which was held on Monday night the 09nd of September. The numbers drawn were 06, 10, 12, 28. The 4 lucky dips of €50 were Daniel King, Oram, Margaret Devlin, Crescent Hill, Patsy Prunty, C/O Sarah Mackin and Eric McDonagh, Knockagolis.  Congratulations to all this week’s winners and especially Betty Ward who is the monthly winner for August, which was a shopping voucher for McMahon’s Supervalu.

Seniors – The Seniors have a home league game with Clontibret this Saturday evening.  Throw-in is at 6pm.

Nudie wins another award – It was with great delight that the Club learned this week, that our very own Nudie Hughes is to be honoured at the All Ireland Final on Sunday 22nd of September, as a member of the Football ‘Stars of the ’80s’ team. All of those included in the final 15 were deemed to have made special contributions to the GAA through outstanding performances over prolonged periods of time.  Nudie won’t be the only member of the Club taking to the pitch on All Ireland Football Sunday as Craig Callan has been chosen to play in the Cumman Na Bun Scoil match at half time. Well done to both Nudie and Craig it will be a proud club day for all.

Minors – Training continues on Friday and Sunday at 5pm, we are still awaiting confirmation of our Minor Semi Final versus Doohamlet.

Go Games– Last Saturday saw the Club host a joint Under 8 and Under 10 Go Games Blitz in St Mary’s Park, even the heavy rain couldn’t put the hundred or so children off. The young Faughs did well in all matches, showing steady signs of improvement from the start of the year.

Under 8 – The boys will have their final Go Games this Saturday in Clones, this is the all- County Go Games which take place at St Tiarnachs Park. Throw in will be 12pm, so we will be meeting at Castleblayney College at 10.45am, we will be returning to Castleblayney at approximately 3pm. Can we ask all parents to insure that the Boys have a change of clothes with them if required.

Operation TransFAUGHSmations – Last Tuesday evening in the concert hall at Our Lady’s Secondary School saw a huge turnout for the formal start of OPTFM 2013.  This information night was extremely successful, it began with an introduction from Club Chairman, Stephen Dignam, who welcomed everyone and wished success and enjoyment for the 12 weeks to follow.  Other speakers included Orla Duffy who is a Senior Dietician with the HSE and local physiotherapist Gillian Oliver, who is now involved for her second year.  Both offered wise words of advice and encouragement for all the enthusiastic participants.  Tomorrow night, Friday, everyone is advised to assemble at the bridge in the Black Island at 7pm to stretch the legs and begin the training.  Let the fun begin!!

Well Done – Last Saturday saw the Under 12 Hurlers take to the field in Aughnamullen to play Carrickmacross in the County Final.  A tense game followed and  the young Faughs team managed to take home the Cup to Castleblayney. It was great to see big smiles on the lads faces after the disappointment of the previous week at the football finals. Well done to Ger O’Brien, his management team and the players on a well-deserved victory.
