The senior team are through to our first championship final in nine years. Well done to all the players and manager Thomas Duffy and assistant Tony Comiskey who have put in a great deal of hard work to get this opportunity and were very brave in their set up of the team. In the first half Sean McDermotts guile and experience was to the fore, where we had the lions share of the chances put trailed on the scoreboard (0-3 0-5) after 28minutes with Seans being much more economical with their opportunities until a Hugh Byrne goal just before the interval changed the direction of the contest. The earlier loss of Colin Woods to a hamstring injury midway through the first half was a big blow at that stage of the game but was balanced in the fact that Seans had to field without star player Patrick Kearns through injury. Half time score Blackhill 1-04 Seans 0-05. Blackhill had their best spell of the game after the break where we stretched out a six point lead 1-10 to 0-07 by the 45^th minute but we were forced into a rear guard action for most of the remainder of the contest by a determined and inspired Seans team who realed off five points without reply aided in no small way by the introduction of Paddy Kearns (Senior) as wave after wave of attack headed towards Michael Shevlins goal. The game looked destined for extra time until a vital tackle and turnover from Eamon Byrne in the last minute provided the platform from which Dermot Daly slotted the final score to send Blackhill to the final where they will play Emyvale on Sunday October 6^th. Again well done to everybody involved and hard luck to Sean McDermotts.
