Up For The Match:
A great night was had by all who attended our Up For The Match event last Friday night in the clubhouse. The night saw excellent contributions from John O’Mahony, Jarlath Burns, Seamus McEnaney, Frank Brady, Dick Clerkin and our own Maggie Kierans. The upcoming All-Ireland Men and Ladies Finals were previewed and there was also a good discussion on the wider issues facing the GAA with JP Graham doing an excellent job at putting the hard questions to the participants. We are extremely grateful to JP and all the participants for coming to the club on the night and it was also great to see many faces from neighbouring clubs.
Ladies Notes
Ulster Intermediate Championship: The senior girls tasted their first success in the Ulster 2013 campaign when they defeated Antrim champions, Glenavy in a wet and windy Aghabog last Sunday. Playing against the wind in the first half, the girl’s dominated possession and were clinical in front of goal. Aghabog went in at half time with a commanding lead. The girl’s dominance continued in the second half and in the end were convincing winners. We now meet Armagh champions, Grange, in the Ulster quarter final on Sunday 6th October.
Thanks: Thanks to all who helped out last Sunday, those who made sandwiches, soup and tea. All was very much appreciated on a cold and wet day.
All Ireland Tickets and Bus: Anyone wishing to get all Ireland Ladies final tickets please contact Maggie on 0871257959 before this Friday 20th September. Anyone interested in booking a seat on the bus also contact Maggie. Deadline date for the bus is Friday 20th. All U/16’s must be accompanied by an adult.
U/10 & U/14 blitz: Well done to our U10’s who competed in the Scotstown blitz last Saturday and also our U/14 team who competed in the Gloria Corrigan blitz in Emyvale. A good day was had by all in both competitions.
Sympathy: The club extends sympathy to Cathy O Hanlon and family, Latnamard, on the death of Kieran Cadden.
