                                                                                  Sean’s Notes

Junior Championship. On Friday night 9th August our adult squad make the short journey to Smithboro for their Universal Graphics Junior Championship quarter final meeting with Aghabog. In their two previous outing in this knockout competition our boys have produced pleasing displays; manager Adrian Larkin will be well aware and will be impressing on his charges that similar collective performances are required on this occasion if the Seans are to prevail and book a semi-final spot at the expense of our neighbours at the first time of asking.  Throw in on Friday evening is 7.30pm. On Wednesday night last they gained two more valuable league points when they squeezed out a result in a low scoring 0 -7 to 0 – 4 victory over visitors Toome.

On Sunday evening last our boys by virtue of their 2 -15 to 2 -7 win over Oram booked their place in the final of the reserve Football League Div 2B competition. Opponents are table toppers and Crawley Cup championship winners Aughnamullen.

Under 8/10.   Because of that big championship game in Smithboro on Friday evening there will be no coaching session for our youngest stars this week.  There is however an Under 8 blitz in Currin on Saturday morning at 10.00am. All eligible U8’s (i.e. children born in 2005 and 2006) are asked to assemble at the complex on Saturday morning for 9.00am. It is hoped to have two team participating; parents, as always the coaches rely on your support in insuring this. The bus will return to the Complex at 12.30/12.45 approx.; Currin’s GAA pitch is located in a lovely wooded setting just a short distance from Scotshouse village.

Cultural Night: We look forward to our next Traditional Irish Music session. This occurs on Friday 9th August, the 2nd Friday of the month. Everyone is welcome to this terrific night’s entertainment! Refreshments served. We look forward to seeing you all there and with the right result coming from Smithboro our traditional night attendance may be swelled considerably!!!
