All-Ireland Series: There were mixed fortunes for the county teams at the weekend as the Seniors were beaten by Tyrone, and the Minors were victorious against Tipperary in their respective Quarter-Finals. Darren Hughes, Kieran Hughes and Rory Beggan were in action for the Seniors, whilst Conor Forde and Conor McCarthy played on the winning Minor side. The Minors will now face Mayo in the All-Ireland Semi-Final.

Seniors: The Seniors were in League action on Tuesday evening at home to Latton, earning a 0-12 to 0-12 draw to keep them top of the table. Scotstown team and scorers: Cian Mohan (0-1); Ross McKenna, Ciaran Treanor, Eddie Beggan; Damien McArdle (0-1), Pauric Keenan, Emmet Caulfield (0-4); David McCague, Frank Caulfield; Paul Grant (0-3), Brian McGinnity, Orin Heaphey (0-1); Elliot Maguire (0-1), Dermot McCrudden, Seán Mohan. Substitutes used: James Hamill (0-1), Peter O’Hara, Shane Rice. The Seniors are at home to Magheracloone this Sunday in the League at 12:30pm, and face the same opposition in the Senior Championship on August 18th.

Reserves: Scotstown collected the Reserve Football League Division 1A crown with a stirring second-half performance against Clontibret on Friday last. The Blues trailed by five points at half-time, and their hopes were dealt a further blow when they were reduced to fourteen men at the beginning of the second half. The sending-off galvanised Scotstown however, and they took control of the game to finish with a 1-13 to 3-5 victory. Juniors: The C team had their home fixture against Killeevan postponed last Wednesday evening due to the Reserve League Final. Next up is a trip to Toome next Wednesday, August 14th throwing in at 7:30pm.

Minors: The last game before the knockout stages of the League is at home to leaders Carrickmacross on Thursday, August 8th throwing-in at 7:30pm. Scotstown need to get at least a draw from the game, and hope that other results go their way if they are to make the semi-finals.

Under 16: The next fixture is away to Clontibret on Thursday, August 15th.

Under 14: The A team play Clones/Currin on Tuesday, August 13th at 7:45pm, with the B team away to Truagh on the same evening at 7pm.

Under 12: The A team face Latton in a play-off at home this Sunday at 12 noon.

Found: A pair of children’s football boots (Umbro brand) were found recently at the Kilmore training grounds – they can be collected from the Club Secretary.

Ned Run 2013: The Ned Run takes place this Saturday, August 10th at 4pm. It’s a 5-mile charity run/walk to suit all abilities in memory of deceased Scotstown Gaels. Registration takes place this Friday evening from 7pm-9pm in the Complex, and from 1pm on Saturday. The entry fee is €10, with proceeds going to the Irish Heart Foundation and Monaghan Hospice Home Care. The recreational football finals will take place after the race, with an exhibition match by Scotstown juveniles in between the Shield and Cup Finals. There will be family entertainment, face-painting, play trailer, plus a children’s disco in the Handball alley (7pm-8:30pm). There’ll also be music in the Social Club with Paddy Reihill and Jock from 7:30pm, and an evening barbeque before The Indians take to the stage at 10pm. A day and night of entertainment not to be missed!

The Indians: Ireland’s top showband The Indians are performing at the Scotstown Complex this Saturday night. Dancing from 10pm until late, with tickets available from committee members priced at €10 each.

Recreational: In the memory of deceased Gaels, the Ned Boylan Cup Final and the Sean Hegarty Shield Final will both take place immediately after the Ned Run on Saturday 10th of August at St. Mary’s Park, Scotstown. This should be a great evening of entertainment and fun for all the family. We look forward to seeing your support at what promises to be a great day for the community.
