Junior League
Killanny 2g 9p
Seans 1g 11p
In the dying moments of this league game played in Pairc Eanna on the Sunday last the quick thinking Gareth Yore flicked a ball to the unmarked Daryl Traynor who had only one thing on his mind and that was to beat the Seans keeper and put his team up by one point for the first time in this fairly interesting game. Seans got of to a great start and had 1g 6points on the board before Michael Vernon added one quickly followed by a point by the very industrious Cian Whakley.  Seans added another before Stephen McMahon brought the first half to a close with a point from a free. At the restart Gareth Yore replaced Michael Quinn and following a 45 conversion by Conor Vernon, Gareth got his boot to a bobbling ball and finished up in the back of the Seans net. We traded points and missed two 45s.Tommy Kierans replaced the injured Eddie Markey and Lochlan Byrne was mopping up all that was thrown at him and setting up some great attacks. With 15 minutes remaining Stephen scored two more frees and Seans added two from play. We were now three points in arrears but nobody was leaving the grounds. On a great run through the Seans defence Gavin Traynor was hauled to the ground and Stephen converted the resulting free. Seans got straight up the field and fired over another point. Stephen split the posts from a 45 and now Seans had a dangerous lead of two points. The referee punished a time wasting trick by the Seans goalkeeper by throwing up the ball. In steps Gareth Yore and the rest is history. Eire Og were visitors last night. Report next week.
Blitz
Killanny hosted a very well organised U10 Blitz involving Inniskeen, Doanaghmoyne and Magheracloone on Friday evening last. Played in ideal conditions, all in attendance were agreed that the standard of the games were of a very high level. The Killanny boys were more than a match for any of their neighbours and can be happy with their days work. In a well organised defence Dara O’ Shea, Tomas Gartlan, Ciaran Finnegan, Dara Finnegan and Iarla Garla all had good games. The midfield of Clara McGahan, Cian Burns and Cillian McGahan were in top form. In attack Cillian McConnon, Conor Burns and Cillian definitly had their scoring boots on. Well done to all concerned.
