Doohamlet GFC Notes

Seniors; Doohamlet played two games last week with mixed fortunes. On Wednesday evening last we played Rockcorry at home and recorded an emphatic victory. A scintillating first half saw us go in at half time with a commanding lead and although Rockcorry rallied briefly Doohamlet always had enough to see out the game for two crucial league points. (see match report)

On Saturday evening we made the short journey to Ballybay and although still without Minor Barry McGinn and the injured  Colin Walshe Darren Connolly and Greg Duffy Doohamlet put in a creditable performance against the County champions. Ted Duffy fired to the net midway through the first half to keep us in touch at half time  1-09 to 1-06. The home side showed all their quality on the resumption and began to pick off scores from all angles and when Paul Finlay crashed to the net the game was effectively over. Credit to Doohamlet however as they competed admirably and with the introduction of Colin Walshe and Darren Connolly in the forward line began to ask questions of the Ballybay defence. Colin Walshe scored our second goal and added a point to close the gap. Barry Mc Bennett added another point from a freekick and was unlucky with another goal chance. The home side controlled the game and were deserving winners. For Doohamlet there were excellent performances from Gabie Casey Kevin Mc Ardle Jason McElroy and Damian Ward in defence while Ted Duffy Shane McManus Barry McBennett and Niall Connolly were always a threat going forward. Final Score 2-16 to 2-10

Championship; Doohamlet now focus on our championship clash with Carrick this weekend in Inniskeen. Thankfully our injuries are almost all clear and hopefully our management will have a full squad ready for action.
