Senior football

League football returned last night when we played Drumhowan away. We travel to Donaghmoyne on Sunday morning for a 12.30 p.m. throw in. Note the strange time.

All Ireland quarter final

Monaghan were beaten by Tyrone on Sunday last in circumstances that have been the subject of much comment. Why Monaghan didn’t win will be debated for many a long evening by those who purport to know and by those who, quite frankly, haven’t a clue. They will all have to be listened to because they were there, in Croke Park last Sunday, in their thousands, proud Monaghan people, supporting and cheering on their own. It was a great feeling but also desperately frustrating. However this disappointment can be replaced by the satisfaction of a super year. We can rightly be proud of this teams achievements this year and we in Currin can be especially proud of our own men’s contribution to this team. We had three men involved, Stephen Smith and Jack Mc Carron who will undoubtedly be stars of the future in the Monaghan jersey and Dick Clerkin who once again showed that he cannot be done without, yet. Well done and thank you to all concerned.

Youth Affairs

Our fourth man in action in Croke Park last Sunday was young Conor Smith, son of Pauric, grandson of Patsy and cousin of Stephen, who played at half time having been selected for his displays during the summer camps. Well done Conor, hopefully it will be the first of many appearances at headquarters for you.

Committee
