Commiserations to Fintan Kelly and the Monaghan Senior team who played their hearts out on Saturday evening, certain things conspired against us but overall we’ve to be content that we threw everything at this game. It’s more than a consolation that we are Ulster and League champions for 2013 and I don’t think that there is anybody who wouldn’t or shouldn’t be happy with that. We’ve the basis of a fantastic team and we look forward to building on this years success in Division 2 football next year along with defending our Ulster Title- Farney Army ABU
Well done & Congratulations to Dermot Gleeson and our County minors on their thrilling victory over Tipperary on Monday in Longford, they’ve played some fantastic football this season and continued that on Monday afternoon in front of a fantastic farney support. In a game full of tension that incredibly included eight minutes overtime, Monaghan were comfortable winners in the end 0-12 to 0-09. Their reward is an All Ireland Semi Final against Mayo on August 25th. Get your tickets early in SuperValu.
Seniors: the wait is almost over and the senior team are back into action this week with a bang, they played Corduff in Clones last night and play Aughnamullen in the Championship on Sunday. This game is a home game and throw-in is at 2pm. It’s a true saying that there are no easy matches in the championship and whilst this is certainly the case in this instance as we’ve seen before even the underdog can have his day in the sun. Come up and support the boys on Sunday- Cluain Eois ABU!!
Minors: St. Tiarnachs have their Championship Quarter Final against Killevan this evening in Clones at 7:30pm. Extra –time will be played if necessary, there’s great rivalry with these two local teams as almost all the boys go to school together and formed the basis of the Largy team that won the VEC county championship earlier this year. Support this minor team, they’re a great squad of young fellas and deserve to do well with the work they’re putting in at training.
Under 16’s; There is a 4 week break in the games now and the boys will be training hard for our last 2 league fixtures and also the league Semi Finals. Next game v Killeevan on August 15. Speedy recovery goes to Daragh who broke his arm at the U15 Blitz which took place in Cloghan on Saturday.
Juveniles: It’s been a quiet few weeks for our juveniles as we are in the holiday season, but training continues apace, there’s been great enthusiasm following on from all the county success and the lads are keen to show of their own skills. Our next two matches are U14’s at home Tuesday August 13th, Division 5 play Emerald Sarsfields at 6:30pm and Division 1 play Scotstown at 7:45pm
Lotto: Lotto results on the double next week owing to the bank-holiday.
