Lotto – There was no winner of the €11,000 jackpot this week which was held on Monday night the 19th of August in Corrigan’s Kitchen. The numbers drawn were 09, 17, 19, 22. The 4 lucky dips of €50 were Tony Carville, Cairde, Sean McDonald, C/O Sean’s Bar, Aidan McNally, Castleblayney and Francis Culleton, Shercock. Next week’s draw will take place in the Ballymacmanus. Senior Championship – The seniors lost out to Clontibret in the SFC on Sunday last on a score of 1-12 to 0-09. A penalty early in the 2nd half gave Clontibret a decisive lead in a game which had been close up until that stage and they closed out the game comfortably. In Mondays draw we were pitted against Magheracloone in the back-door and this game will take place on Saturday week, more details on time and venue next week.

 

 

 

Senior fixtures – There are two senior league fixtures this week, last night (Wed) we were away to Magheracloone and on Friday night as part of the Gathering celebrations we face Latton at St Marys Park with a 7.15PM throw-in

The Faughs Gathering – The Club are delighted with ticket sales for this weekend’s Gala Ball which is fast approaching sell-out. The Gala Ball will honour the famous five-in-a-row winning team as well as giving the people of Castleblayney an opportunity to gather to reminisce about the old times and more importantly allow people to catch up with friends from years gone by. We would ask that all tickets are collected & paid for in full prior to the event.

Mc Mahons Centra Faughs Summer Camp – The Summer Camp is well underway with a huge attendance again this year.  As in previous years, it will turn out to be a memorable week for all of our younger members culminating in the day away and barbeque on Saturday.

Gathering Concert –Tonight sees the Club hold a Gathering Concert in Iontas Theatre to celebrate the cultural aspects of our community with song and dance and craic. One of the highlights of the evening will be the “Open Mike” sessions with former Faughs players and management legends as they roll back the years to chat about the fabled 5 in a row team as well as the teams & matches of the later years. Entry fee is €10 per ticket for adults and €5 for Children which can now be purchased at Iontas, McMahons Supervalu or directly from Melissa Conlon at 087 7617216

Maurice Hanratty Golf Cup – As part of the Gathering weekend an open golf event will take place tomorrow, Friday at Concra Wood in memory of former Faughs great and Castleblayney Golf Club favourite, Maurice “Mau” Hanratty. The singles stableford event is open to anybody associated with Castleblayney Golf Club, Castleblayney Faughs and the GAA family generally. The Hanratty family have presented a perpetual cup for this event with other prizes on the day are sponsored by Heineken Ireland and McElroy Trophies and Signage. Tee reservation for the Castleblayney Faughs Open may be made online at www.concrawood.ie or by contacting the Golf Club office at Concra Wood.

Operation TransFAUGHSmation – Yes it’s almost that time of year again……. Operation TransFAUGHSmation 2013 will be back before we know it.  Registration will take place on Tuesday the 27th August at Our Lady’s Concert Hall at 7pm, this 12 week programme is a great opportunity to meet new people while exercising and improving your health. Remember our motto remains “a fun way to a healthier lifestyle”…..hope to see ye all there!

Street League – The Faughs under 12 street league will reach its finale this Friday with the cup and shield finals taking place during the annual summer camp.

Minor Team – The minor team have no match this week as the county minors prepare for Croke Park.  The club would like to take this opportunity to wish Mark Kelly and Ronan McNamara all the best for next Sunday.

Under 16 – There are no fixtures for the under 16 team in the coming week.

Under 12 Boys – The under 12 development team had a great win over Carrickmacross last week and await Clontibret in the final on Saturday week while the under 12 senior team will meet Carrickmacross in the division 1 final on the same day.

Under 12 Girls – The under 12 girls team will meet Doohamlet in their under 12 final.  The fixture date is awaited.

Under 10 Boys – The under 10 team had a great match last Thursday against Carrickmacross putting in one of their best performances of the year.  There is no training for under 10s this week during the summer camp.

Under 8 Boys – The under 8 team produced a good performance against Crossmaglen last Saturday morning.  There is no training this week for under 8s during the summer camp.

Under 6 – There is no under 6 training this week during the summer camp.
