Brave Effort at Féile

It was a brave effort by our Féile team in Ballydesmond, County Cork, to end up with 3 points out of a possible 4 to tie for joint first place with the local Cork club. However Jakub, Justas, Eoghan and Caileán were bitterly disappointed to lose out on aggregate scores and, as a result, failed to progress to Sunday’s Division 3 final.
It all started well for the team with Eoghan Mc Ginnity impressive in the Skills competition earlier in the day. What followed was a very determined display against Wexford and a 2-nil victory for the Harps. Local team, Ballydesmond., also won both games against Wexford. This left a crucial match between Monaghan and Cork. The first game went to Monaghan and the second game to Cork. However, in accordance with Féile rules, aggregate scores decide the winning team in the event of a tie. The Harps players had amassed a total of 72 points while Ballydesmond scored a total of 79. Our disappointment was eased somewhat on hearing that the Harps Hurling team had won their final. Congratulations to Jim, Michael and Tommy on a great result for the hurlers and thanks for the support and transport to the marvellous Féile parade through Limerick city.
