Last Saturday was Championship Final day for our Junior side as they took on Aughnamullen in the Crawley Cup Final in Corduff. Donaghmoyne got off to an excellent start as they raced into a six point lead after fifteen minutes. From then until the end of the half Aughnamullen got a foothold on the game and started to dominate which resulted in them going in leading seven points to six at half time. The sides traded scores for most the second half but Aughnamullen sneaked into a two point lead with fifteen minutes to go. Again the sides traded scores but this time it was goals, Niall Garland striking home the goal for Donaghmoyne. Unfortunately the gap couldn’t be closed and the result showed Donaghmoyne on the wrong side of a two point defeat, scoreline 1-12 to 1-10. Hard luck to all players and management, it just wasn’t to be on the night but they should be proud of how far they came and now need to pick themselves up ahead of their league final in a couple of weeks.
Minors:
Minors return to action next Tuesday evening as they take on Cuchulains Sarsfields at home in Donaghmoyne at 7.45. The business end of the season has now arrived and the lads need as much support possible, so get out to support them next Tuesday evening.
U16s:
Last Thursday evening our U16 panel took on St. Pats at home in the league. The lads wanted to make it two wins in a row and start a runoff form and that’s what they did as they ran out comprehensive winners. They returned to action on Sunday evening also as they took on Scotstown away from home. The lads had to fight hard to gain a result and they didn’t fail to deliver as they gave an excellent performance and won on a scoreline of 0-14 to 1-7. They have no game this week.
