Clones

Best of luck:  to Fintan Kelly and the Monaghan Senior team against Tyrone at HQ this Saturday.  There are no easy matches in championship football and this is certainly the case at All Ireland QF stage, Tyrone have been a bogey team for us in the past but they’re not the team they were, neither are we,  we’re a far stronger outfit than in 2007/2010 added to that fact we are Ulster Champions.  So no fear for the Farney Army this weekend and a sense of belief, pride and desire will surely get us over the line.  ‘Thinking will not overcome fear, but action will’-W.Clement Stone. Muineachain ABU!!

Big Match Tickets for this weekends match are available in SuperValu, terrace tickets and seated tickets are available.  You can also get tickets for the Minor match, where our Ulster Champions take on Tipperary in Longford on Monday evening.  Muineachain ABU!!

Thank you I omitted to mention last week the tremendous work that Tommy McCabe put in the last few weeks and indeed the last few years in having the pitch in pristine condition for the Ulster Final.  Tommy’s work sometimes goes unnoticed (as it did last week) but he’s an essential part of the club, a man who you’ll find in St Tiarnach’s park morning, noon and night.  A huge thank you then goes to Tommy for having our playing surface consistently like a carpet.

Reserves played against Monaghan Harps in Gavin Duffy Park last Friday in a match in which would define our season, a win and we would be in the league semi-final.  We got off to a flying first half with the majority of possession, and this was reflected on the scoreboard at HT with Clones leading by 2-08 to 1-03.  If ever there was a game of two halves, this was it and Clones only managed to score a solitary point in the second half leaving a full-time result of Monaghan Harps 3-09 Clones 2-09.  Credit to Harps but a very disappointing result for us, which leaves us in 6th place on the table.

Minors: had a great win in the league against Castleblaney last Tuesday.  This combined team of Clones and Eire Og lads played some exceptional football no doubt inspired by the performances of Dermot and the boys last week.  FT score  St.Tiarnachs 8-10 to Castleblaney 3-14.  Things are going very well for this team and I’m told they’re putting in a phenomenal amount of work in training and they deserve all their success.  Keep it up lads- coinnigh oraibh!!

Under 16’s; There is a 4 week break in the games now and the boys will be training hard for our last 2 league fixtures and also the league Semi Finals. Next game v Killeevan on August 15. Speedy recovery goes to Daragh who broke his arm at the U15 Blitz which took place in Cloghan on Saturday.
