Blayney Hurling Club Notes

Training:

U6/U8 & U-10s 

Training is at Concra Field all for young Hurlers on Wednesday evening’s 

U- 6 ,U- 8 & U-10 at 6.15 pm

Under 8 and Under 10

Well done to all Castleblayney hurlers who played against East Cavan Gaels last Wednesday . Great to see so many young hurlers out enjoying themselves, We would like to thank East Cavan Gales for coming to us and for a great evening of good sportsmanship

Under 12

The U-12 match against Cootehill next Monday night arrangements will be discussed at training .
Well done to all a good win against Truagh at home on Monday last.
U-12 Training continues on Wednesday Evenings at 6.15 in Concra
Under 14

The u-14s travelled last weekend to take part in the Ulster Feile along with the Blayney Camogie club . The Hurlers played there matches  in Lavey while the Camogie club were based in Swatragh . The Hurlers played four matches against  Lavey  of Derry , Naomh Colmcille of Tyrone, Tir na Nog  of Antrim and Ballyshannon  of Donegal . The boys put a great performance on the day with Lavey of Derry coming out of their section and winning the division  outright.

In the Camogie   Blayney played Burt of Donegal and Aghaberg  of Derry  winning both their matches and then went onto meet  Mc Cumhaills  of Donegal in the final . The girls were unfortunately beaten by a the stronger Donegal team in the final .

Under 16

U16 match next Monday away to Cootehill. Text will go out with meeting time. Training continues every Wednesday at 8pm in Concra. Membership for U -16 players is due and costs 10 euro each

Seniors

The Seniors played Kileavy last  Tuesday night in Concra  in the Armagh lg and continued there winning run with a impressive victory  over the visiting team. Best for Blayney on the night was Bernard Connor,Cormac Mc Nally  and Peter Treanor in defence , while Mark Treanor continued to shine in midfield and in  the forwards  Gerry Brady, Fergal Rafter,Tony Forde and Barry Reilly  put in a brilliant  performance .  With the first round of this league  over Blayney top the table  having won all their matches.  Last Tuesday night the seniors travelled to Lisnaskea ,full report next week . Next Thursday  the 11/07 we are at home to Truagh in  St Marys park  in the next round of the championship with throw in at 7-45pm.

 

Club Membership

All players are reminded to bring membership subscription 
to training where membership cards will be issued. This is necessary to ensure players are covered by insurance.

Croke Park 

Last Tuesday saw five of our U-12 hurlers  play in Croke Park in an u-12 blitz and then after the games they  got a tour of the museum and was a great experience for all . The players were Joshua Mohan, Niall Carville, Jack Madden,Declan Mc Nally and Joseph Hughes .  Also another  two of the club players have being chosen to play in Croke Park on All-Ireland Semi-final and Final day . David Irwin will play at half time in the All-Ireland  Hurling semi-final and Craig Callan has being chosen to play at half time in the All-Ireland hurling final

Breakfast morning and Cake Sale
The club is running a Breakfast Morning in the Iontas  on Sunday the 14th of July  from 9am to 1pm . We ask that everyone come out and support this event  and enjoy a full Irish breakfast specially cooked for you by chefs  Brian Mc Guigan, Fergal Rafter and Mark Treanor.

Cul Camps
 
The Cul Camps that are taking place in Blayney from the 15th July to the 19th July. Parents are able to get a discount if they apply online using the codes from Kellogg’s products.
