Castleblayney Faughs

Junior B’s – The B’s suffered two defeats in the last week, going down 1-10 to 1-04 to Scotstown on Wednesday last and on Saturday evening yielding to Latton on a 1-12 to 1-10 scoreline. There is no let up with the B action as there are two more games this week with a trip to Clontibret on Sat evening (7PM) followed by another away game against Latton on Wed evening (8PM).

Junior C’s – The C’s were in action last night (Wednesday), no result at time of going to press.

Street League – The Faughs annual under 10/12 street league gets underway next Wednesday. As always the lads are looking forward to this competition which will run over the summer culminating in the Grand Finals Day at the end of our summer Camp on 23rd August. This year will see our biggest ever street league with 6 teams vying for the title of 2013 Faughs Street League champions. Best of luck to all the players and teams.

Best of Luck – The Club would like to wish all the county players the best of luck in the Ulster Finals on Sunday, the club is represented by Dermot Malone and Martin McElroy on the Senior Panel and Mark Kelly on the Minor Panel.  With a bit of luck the Anglo Celt Cup will reside in County Monaghan after a 25 year absence.

Well Done – Congratulations to the Monaghan Ladies team who have made it four Ulster Championships in a row, hopefully this success with will be followed by the men’s teams on Sunday.

The Gathering Dinner Dance – The Faughs Gathering Ball will happen on Saturday August 24th at 8pm in the Glencarn Hotel.The Gala Ball promises to be one of the highlights of what is going to be a great weekend in Castleblayney. The Gala Ball will honour the famous five-in-a-row winning team as well as giving the people of Castleblayney an opportunity to gather to reminisce about the old times and more importantly allow people to catch up friends from years gone by. A fine meal will be followed by music and other entertainment into the night and will be the perfect opportunity for everyone to mix and mingle all for a fantastic price of €50 per ticket. Muckno Mania Sports Day – The Faughs are delighted to once again host the annual Muckno Mania Sports Day this Saturday at 3:30pm. This will be preceded by the Teddy Bears Picnic at 2:30pm. As always a great crowd is expected to attend for what promises to be a great afternoon’s fun.

Minors – The minor team received the points against Inniskeen on Tuesday last and sit at the top of the table. The next match is away to St Tiarnach’s on Tuesday next 23rd July. Training will continue on Fridays at 6.30pm and Sundays at 5 pm.

Under 16 – The under 16 team have their next match away to Rockcorry on Thursday 25th July.

Under 14 – The under 14 team have no games this week. Their next outing is away to Fergal O Hanlon’s on Saturday week 27th July. Training continues at 6.15pm on Tuesday and at 7pm on Thursday.

Under 12 Boys – The under 12 boys played Carrick in the final game of Division 1A on Tuesday last (see website for details of result) while the development team played Doohamlet on Wednesday evening (again see website for result).

Under 12 Girls – The under 12 Girls had a match last Monday evening away to Donaghmoyne (see website for details). Training continues on Monday evenings at the football field at 6pm.

Under 10 – The under 10 boys travelled to Cloghan for their Go Games on Saturday last. Both teams gave a good account of themselves with a strong showing of skill and commitment. Training will continue this Thursday at 7 pm and again on Saturday at 10 am.

Under 10 Girls – The under 10 girls team training continues every Monday evening at 6pm at the Football Field. All new members are welcome to come along.

Under 8 – The under 8 team had no Go Games this week but training continues on Thursday at 6 pm and again on Saturday at 10 am.

Under 6 – Great to see some more new faces last week , training continues again at the football field on Thursday at 6pm, all new players and parents are more than welcome, why not take your child along and let them join in

Kellogg’s GAA Cúl Camps – It was a busy week at St Mary’s Park this week with up to 100 kids participating in the GAA Cul Camps. Great to see so many of our younger members enjoying a week of football and fun.

Lotto – There was no winner of the €11,000 jackpot this week which was held on Monday night the 15th of July in the Horseman’s. The numbers drawn were 02, 10, 13, 28. The 4 lucky dips of €50 were Marc Loughman, Castleblayney, Jim Heaney, Drumillard, Danielle Gallaher, Drumillard and John Meegan, The Shebeen.  In celebration of the beautiful weather, July’s monthly prize will also be a BBQ. The best of luck to all lotto players and many thanks for your continued support.Next week’s draw will take place in Sean’s Bar.
