Monaghan played Armagh in a challenge in Cloghan on Saturday. Monaghan opted to play with the breeze in the first half. Armagh started well, they won the throw in and kept possession to score their first point of the game in the 1st minute. Monaghan immediately responded with a point in the 2nd minute by James Mealiff. Armagh scored their next score in the 4th minute from a placed ball. Monaghan quickly replied with a score from John Mulligan after he made a great run to create the score from Half Back. Armagh hit their first goal in the 6th minute of the half to leave them 3 points up. And they quickly added another point to leave them 4 up. Ronan McDonald hit 2 free kicks to close the gap. Armagh replied almost immediately with a point. Conor Marry tapped over a fine point from play and was followed 4 minutes later by a point from Stephen Finnegan who had a fine display at half back. Armagh closed the half with 3 points in the last 10 minutes. Monaghan finished the half with points from Francis Mc Nally, Conor Marry and Eoin McKearney to leave the half time score Monaghan 0-09 Armagh 2-06
Armagh registered their first score of the second half after the scored a point in the 3rd minute. Monaghan’s Niall Keenan hit back with great score from 45m out. Monaghan knocked over to more points coming from the boot of Ronan McDonald and James Daly. Armagh hit 4 scores on the trot to leave Monaghan with it all to do. Ronan McDonald and Adam O Driscoll hit 2 more points for Monaghan but it was mirrored by 2 Points for Armagh. James Mealiff had the final say of the game and rifled home a great goal in the 33rd minute to leave the final score Monaghan 1-15 Armagh 2-13
