Sean’s Notes
Results: JFC Killanny 1 – 6 Seans 2 -14
Adult Team news. On Sunday last in Drumhowan our adult team put in one of their best performances of the season so far to overcome opponents Killanny and progress to the next round of the Graphic Design Junior Championship on a score line of Killanny 1 – 6 Seans 2 -14. Killanny drew first blood a Peter Dooley point in the third minute Derek Mc Mahon had the side level three minutes later. Scores in the intervening period where hard to come by but Seans doubled their scoring ratio knocking over 4 points in the last five minutes of the opening half to enter the dressing rooms with the score board showing Killanny 0 – 2 Seans 0 – 8. Two second half Patrick Kieran goals seal the result, the first in the 10th minute, the industrious midfielder on the end of a sweeping move to power himself through the heart of the Killanny defence and finish to the net with some aplomb. Stephen Mc Mahon converted a Killanny penalty two minutes later but to no avail; the in form Kieran with eighteen minutes gone was again in the right place for his team and was exquisitely found by a deft Damien Larkin pass treading the ball past several Killanny defenders to Kieran on the edge of the square, he gave Killanny goalkeeper Declan Mc Glew no chance rattling the rigging of the net from five yards. What will please those involved with the team including supporters was the work man like manner in which everyone stuck to their task and obvious game plan. I know, and so do they nothing has been won yet, Sundays performance give us hope!!!
Juvenile Fundraiser. Players’ members and supporter are asked to note a change of date to our planned 5/10 Km Walk & Fun Run. Leaving from the complex around local roads, it will be followed by a Barbeque and live music in the Social centre. We hope everyone will make the effort to participate, as well as encouraging and supporting our young juveniles when they come calling requesting sponsorship.

Cultural Night: Our monthly Traditional Irish Music session took place last Friday. These sessions have now been running over two years, and it’s so heartening when we continue to have new musicians coming along each month. And as always, we had some smashing tunes from our younger musicians, who need to be heard to be believed! It’s such a confidence booster for any budding talent, to take part in these sessions, and we all reap the rewards in having new tunes to brush up on, and having had a terrific night’s entertainment into the bargain!
So, a huge thank you to all our local musicians, plus everyone who turned out in force, from Corcaghan & Monaghan C.C.É. branches. Thank you to Paula, Ann & Margot for the refreshments!
So remember to keep the 2nd Friday free, next session takes place on Friday 12th July. We look forward to seeing you all there. Refreshments served & everyone is welcome.
