Monaghan’s senior ladies are just one win away from retaining their Ulster SFC title after they won last Saturday’s semi-final against Donegal. Caoimhe Mohan top-scored with 1-3 and Cathriona McConnell, Ellen McCarron and Cora Courtney hit a combined ten points as Monaghan ran out 1-14 to 1-6 winners.
Defending champions Castleblayney have two wins from two in the Silver Hill Foods Senior Hurling Championship after they put Clontibret to the sword on Thursday. That saw them close to within a point of table-toppers Carrickmacross, who drew with Monaghan Harps.
Toome and Éire Óg both put preliminary-round defeats in the Universal Graphics Junior Football Championship behind them last weekend. Toome got the better of Killeevan on Friday, while Éire Óg battled past Scotstown on Saturday (see report).
Blackhill closed to within two points of Emyvale at the top of the Eurotech Junior Football League when they eased to victory over neighbours Oram on Sunday, while Killanny’s comprehensive win over Aghabog moved the south-Monaghan men up to third.
Monaghan Harps saw off Aghabog in Friday’s Platinum Tanks Reserve Football Championship Division Three semi-final to set up a meeting with Blackhill in the final, while Sunday’s RFC Crawley Cup semi saw Aughnamullen edge out Emyvale to advance to a decider against Donaghmoyne.
There was also action in all divisions of the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football Leagues between Wednesday and Sunday. Scotstown and Clontibret had comprehensive wins over Latton and Magheracloone respectively in Division 1A, while the game between Monaghan Harps and Castleblayney was postponed. Truagh defeated Tyholland to stay top of Division 1B, where there was also a win for Ballybay against Drumhowan and a draw between Doohamlet and Cremartin. Donaghmoyne maintained their lead in Division 2A with a comprehensive win over neighbours Inniskeen, while Corduff won another local derby against Carrickmacross. Seán McDermotts and Truagh beat Rockcorry and Castleblayney respectively in Division 2B, while Oram got a walkover from Aughnamullen. Clones and Clontibret stayed in the hunt in Division Three with wins over Emyvale and Currin, while Killanny conceded to Monaghan Harps.
