Monaghan Coaching staff organised a hurling skills competition which was held in Clontibret during the Allianz Boys Hurling & Girls Football League Finals on Thursday 20th of June. In total ten schools were represented Scoil Mhuire Clontibret, St Tiarnach`s Clones, Deravoy , Scoil Rois, St Josephs Carrickmacross, Mullaghrafferty, Edenmore, Annyalla, Blackstaff and Corduff. Each school had two representatives and all players received a quick touch sliothar for taking part.
In what turned out to be a very close contest and the skill levels on show was very high by all that took part. Kilian Woods from Edenmore (Truagh) was the winner with a very impressive score of 80 out of 90. Second and third had to be separated by time as actually 7 players ended up on 70 points. With only 700 hundreds of a second between them Ryan Mc Nulty came second and in third was Brendan Mc Cully. Killian received a Monaghan jersey and a hurley. Ryan received a Monaghan tee shirt and a hurley. Brendan received a Monaghan hat and a hurley.
