U-14’s

On the 5th June last our U-14s travelled to Emyvale for what proved to be a thrilling encounter. Magheracloone had a fantastic start with scores from Liam Óg Murray, Niall Marron, Dylan Mc Cahey & Barry Kieran, without any response from Emyvale who couldn’t seem to get into their rhythm. The game looked like it was over with Magheracloone leading by 9 points. However Emyvale were in no humour for giving gifts and came out pressing hard for a come back. The Mitchells defence was coming under constant pressure with Daniel Mc Connon, Jack Marron, Connor Mc Keown, Dylan Tuite & Cameron Everard producing great performances to deny the many Emyvale advances. Matthew Kieran pulled off a fantastic save at point blank range. The 3rd quarter started well with an early point from Magheracloone and another great save from Matthew. This was soon to change. Magheracloone seemed to loose focus and Emyvale took full advantage scoring 2-6 in quick succession. The third quarter finished with just a point between the teams. This game was now up for grabs. The fourth quarter started with two sides hungry to earn the points. Just when we needed a boost in came a perfect pass from Dylan Mc Cahey to Frances Lambe who buried the ball in the back of the net. Emyvale were quick to answer and came right back to level the match and then go one point ahead for the first time in the game. With all credit to the young Mitchells they continued to press and with two minutes remaining Frances Lambe won a free kick, he calmly slotted the ball over the keepers head and scored his second goal of the match. This was followed up by a point from young Mc Cahey. The match finished with a final score Magheracloone 3-14 Emyvale 2-14. Well done to both sides on an entertaining game.
