Seniors:
This Saturday see’s our Senior panel get their first taste of Championship action this Summer as they face Truagh in Blackhill on Saturday evening at 7pm. The lads have been preparing well and now look forward to the test Saturday. Nothing beats being there to support your club on the big day out so get to Blackhill Saturday evening to support the lads.
Juniors:
Our Junior side took on rivals Seans last Saturday evening in the Semi-Final of the Crawley Cup. This was a tight encounter throughout, even though our lads had played second fiddle with their opponents for most of the game. But the lads fought hard from start to finish and in the second half they clawed back the Seans lead, and took a narrow lead of their own. A few vital scores late on help sealed a 3 point win for the Fontenoys as the game finished on a scoreline of 1-16 to 2-10. They have now reached the final and will face the winners of Aughnamullen and Emyvale. Also as the lads finished top of the league, they automatically qualify for the final of the competition. A possible league and championship double is now on the cards, but nothing is won yet. But well done to all so far and we look forward to the final.
U14s:
U14 training continues this Thursday evening at 6pm. On Saturday morning the lads travel to Aughnamullen. The lads will look to get back to winning ways after their recent run of defeats. Throw in for that one is at 12 o clock.
U12s:
Both U12 teams, the A team and B team, had their second games in the league in the last week. On Thursday evening the A team took on Eire Og at home . This was a very good game played in ideal conditions. Thankfully our lads came out on the right side of a narrow win to give them their 2nd win of the league campaign. Then on Saturday morning the B team faced Cremartin, also at home. This game was also played in perfect sunny conditions and the lads ran out comfortable winners. Good to see both teams starting the league with two wins from two. This week sees the lads return to action. The A panel take on Toome away on Tuesday evening at 7pm.
Mini Fontenoys:
The minis training continues Saturday at 11 in Donaghmoyne. All new children from the ages of u6s up to u10s are welcome. Every child must have a gumbshield otherwise they cannot participate. Cost is €2 per family. Also any parents willing to get involved in coaching are more than welcome.
Recently Deceased:
The club would like to extend its sympathies to the Hamill family on the recent death of James Hamill Corlygarry, who was husband of Teresea, and brother of Gene and Johnny Hamill. James was a holder of two championship medals, played as a goalkeeper and was a former Fontenoy great. He will be sadly missed not only by his family, but also by his club.
Speedy Recovery:
We would like to wish our two young stars Danny Lennon and Killian Markey a speedy recovery from their recent injuries and hope to see them back on the field very soon. Also we’d like to wish our ladies senior trainer Kevin Burns a speedy recovery from his recent operation. You can’t keep a good man down and we hope to see Kevin back along the line very soon.
Congratulations:
The club would like to congratulate Padraig Donaghy and the rest of the Monaghan Senior football panel on their win last Sunday in the first round of the Ulster Championship against Antrim. They now face Cavan or Fermanagh in the Ulster semi final on Saturday June 29th in Clones.
