Youth Affairs

U12’s.

Currin-Clones U12 had their second outing in the league last Thursday evening in a warm sunny St Tiarnach’s Park, against a very physically strong Toome team. The visitors got off to a very fast start and the lads found themselves down by three goals after seven minutes, the score not reflecting the effort from the young lads all over the field. While they were finding it difficult to turn possession into scores with 6 sides in the first half, a point from James Mc Quaid and a goal from Maitiu Monaghan left the lads two goals behind at half time. A good start to the second half brought about another goal from Maitiu Monaghan after some great work from Tiernan, Connor and James, and points also from Tiernan and Jack. The physical strength of Toome proved the difference as they powered in for two more goals despite fantastic efforts from our defenders. A long range effort from Conor Smyth was fisted to the net by Jordan Reinhart, closing the gap a little but it wasn’t to be on this occasion as the score finished 3 goals 4 points to 5 goals four points. The standard is high at this level for our young squad, and with the efforts shown, a win must be just around the corner.

Monaghan v Antrim Ulster Championship.

Monaghan overcame a very poor Antrim side on Sunday last, in the Ulster championship, in Belfast. Congratulations to Dick, Jack and Stephen on being part of that win. At half time our club was represented by Tiarnan Kierans whose scoring attributes could have been copied in the main game, well done Tiarnan.
