With the county senior and minor footballers in action this Saturday, there is a limited programme of club games this week.
McElvaney Recycling Under-21 Football League Division Three Final
Blackhill v Seán McDermotts, Wednesday, 8.00, Cremartin
Blackhill and Sean McDermotts contest the Under-21 FL Division Three Final on Wednesday evening in Cremartin.
Tyholland’s withdrawal from the competition left just three teams in this division and with the Seáns beating Emyvale, it left it to these sides to battle it out to finish top, with Blackhill coming out on top on that occasion with seven points to spare. These clubs have been going well in junior competitions, with Blackhill top of the league and both teams having won two games in the championship.
Blackhill can call on some of the players who starred when their amalgamated side, Emerald Sarsfields, won the U-21 Division One title last year, including Dónal and Ciarán Courtney, Michael Geehan and Ciarán Costello. The Seáns have a county Under-21 star in Brian McQuaid, while Conor McElroy, Danny McNally and Ryan McGuinness should also play key roles. Blackhill should come out on top in.
Inniskeen and Carrickmacross contest a rescheduled local derby in the Silver Hill Foods Senior Hurling League on Wednesday evening.
The quarter-finals of all four divisions of the Gerry’s Prepared Veg. Under-16 Football Championships take place on Sunday, while there is also action in the Under-12 Hurling and Football and Under-16 Hurling and Football Leagues in the next week
