Senior Team; The Senior team’s played Currin yesterday Wednesday the 12th June in the 10th round of the Intermediate league in what was a most anticipated encounter.  Match report next week. Our next league match is against Corduff at home Friday week.

Reserves:  Arguably the biggest game of the week is our Championship Semi-Final tomorrow Friday against Blackhill with a 7:30pm throw-in.  We wish the lads the very best of luck, following a good victory against Clontibret in the first round we’re hoping the lads can make it through to our first final of the season.  Cluain Eois ABU.  Their next league encounter is against Emyvale away on Wednesday week 19th June.

Minors; There’s a break for four weeks now with the county championship getting underway our next minor match is against Rock Emmets away on the 9th of July.

Under 16’s; there’s a break in  football for this team with exams taking place their next game is against Eire Og on 20th June throw in 7:30pm.

Under 14’s; The U14 Clones/Currin Division 1 team were away to table toppers Monaghan harps on Tuesday last we were unable to field a team and conceded both points.  Their next match is away against Truagh on Saturday coming at 1:15pm.

The Division 5 team had a championship semi -final on Tuesday last away to Emerald Sarsfields in what was an intensely fought encounter Clones came up short on a full-time score of Sarsfield’s 8:09 Clones/Currin 6:10.  Their next match is away against Truagh on Saturday throw-in is 12pm.  Support the lads if you can.

Under 12’s: The U12 Team 2 played Latton in St Tiarnach’s Park on Saturday morning in very hot yet otherwise perfect conditions.  It was a credit to both teams that the spectators were treated to an entertaining game of football with a non stop demonstration of running into space, support and passing. Scores were plentiful and despite a slow start in the end Currin -Clones ran out winners 6.8 to 3.8. For the home Team Shane Duffy, Regan Graham, Ryan Nolan & James Cadden performed well but it was the tireless performance of Oisin Kearns throughout the entire match that stood out for coaches and spectators alike. Scorers for Currin/Clones; Shane Duffy 3.01,James Cadden 3.01,Oisin Kearns 0.02,Maitiu Monaghan 0.01,Jordan McCabe 0.01,Shane Potter 0.01Ryan Nolan 0.01.

Currin-Clones U12 had their second outing in the league last Thursday evening in a warm sunny St Tiarnachs park, against a very physically strong Toome team. Clones/Currin found themselves down by three goals after seven minutes, the score not reflecting the effort from the young lads all over the field. While they were finding it difficult to turn possession into scores with 6 wides in the first half, a point from James McQuaid and a goal from Maitiu Monaghan left the lads two goals behind at half time. A good start to the second half brought about another goal from Maitiu Monaghan after some great work from Tieran Connor and James, and points also from Tiernan and Jack. The physical strength of Toome proved the difference as they powered in for two more goals despite fantastic efforts from our defenders. A long effort from Conor Smyth was fisted to the net by Jordan Reinhart closing the gap a little but it wasn’t to be on this occasion as the score finished 3:04 to 5:04. The standard is high at this level for our young squad, and with the efforts shown, a win must be just around the corner.

Under 8/10’s: Training continues is now on Wednesday’s from 6-7pm in the big field.  There’s a blitz for our Under 10’s on Saturday in the big field also, we wish them all the best and I’d encourage everyone to make the effort and go up to the big field and see the talent coming through, it’s heart warming to see the effort that the players and their coaches are putting in.  “Mol na h’oige agus tiocfaidh siad”, encourage the youth and they will achieve.
