The U14’s were beaten by Inniskeen on Monday evening in Blackhill in the Shield Final of the Monaghan League by a scoreline of 2-17 to 2-1, although the boys gave a much better performance than the scoreline would suggest. They were right in the game until the final quarter, and although Inniskeen pulled away at the end the lads never gave in and fought to the bitter end. Best on the night for Blayney were Stephen McNally, Steven Beattie and Craig Callan, with Declan Hughes finding his scoring touch again.
The team will finish off their season this weekend when the travel to Lavey, Co. Derry to take part in the Ulster Hurling Feile. They are up against Lavey, Tir Na N-Og of Antrim, Aodh Ruadh of Deonegal and St. Colmcilles from Tyrone in Division 5 of the competition. Bus will be leaving Lidl at 8am sharp, all players are to bring a packed lunch with them as this will be a long day. This should be an enjoyable occasion for the lads and hopefully we can finish off the season on a good note.
Seniors
The seniors had 2 matches last week with the first match against Sean Traceys of Lurgan last Tuesday away in Lurgan . This was a very competitive match with the younger players putting in a great performance having being behind at half time to win the game by 6 points. Then on Thursday last they played Inniskeen away in the hurling championship first round . This was a very close and competitive game up until half way through the second half when Bernard Connor scored a great goal following a fine pass from Micheal Mc Hugh . Blayney then went onto win the match on score line of Castleblayney 2-13 Inniskeen 0-12. Best for Blayney on the day was Paddy Finnegan , Eoin Leonard, Mark Treanor,B Mc Guigan, B Connor and M Mc Hugh . Tonight the Seniors are at home to Clontibret with throw in at 8pm in St Marys Park
