Lotto – There was no winner of the €11000 jackpot in the Faughs lotto held in The Comet Bar on Monday night. The numbers drawn were 01, 03, 11, 21. The 4 lucky dips of €50 were won by Patricia Clerkin, Bree, Sadie Brennan, Clontibret, Bart McNamara, Cairde and Seamus Kerr, Killycard. Next weeks draw will be held in the Ballymac and don’t forget the monthly prize for June is a BBQ. Thank you for your continued support.
Junior B – Last Sunday mornings RFL1A game with Monaghan Harps never materialised as no referee turned up for the fixture. This game will be refixed in due course.
Junior C – The Cs were left to rue their missed opportunities on Wednesday night last as the went down by two points to Truagh 3-08 to 1-12.
Closed Period – Adult football is now taking its annual two week holiday break and will return in early July.
The Faughs Gathering – Plans are well down the road for finalisation , the Summer Camp is confirmed for the 21st of August ,with the Cultural evening booked for the 22nd ,Friday23rd sees the open day on our local Championship golf course Concra Wood, while Saturday will see the Club Bar B Que and Gala Ball in the Glencarn. Best of Luck – The Club would like to wish the Monaghan Senior and Minor team the best of luck this Saturday evening as they prepare to take on Cavan. The Club is represented by Dermot Malone and Marty Mc Elroy on the Senior Panel and Mark Kelly on the Minor panel.
Minors – The Minor team have returned to training after the exam break , training this week will be on Friday evening at 6.30 pm and again on Sunday at 5pm.We return to action on the9th of July with a tough opening match against Inniskeen.
Under 16 – The Boys return to action this week ,when they take on Aghabog at 7.30pm. We currently lie in joint second in the table alongside Aghabog and Tyholland with just over half the league games gone. The boys have put in a good effort so far this year ,hopefully they can continue their winning ways on Thursday night. They play Doohamlet at home in their next league match which is on the 11th of July in St Marys Park at 7.30pm.
Under 14 Boys – The Boys have this Saturday off , their next game is against Aughnamullen , training continues tonight at 7 pm and again on Tuesday evening at 6.15pm
Under 12 Boys – The Development team played Carrickmacross on Tuesday 18th of June ,in a good game of football this young Faughs side showed that they are a team worth watching for the future. The defence was excellently marshalled by Conor Rice and Ian Kindlon , while there was a strong performance in midfield by Ciaran Duffy and Conor Mulligan. Up front Conall Mc Hugh lead the scoring and was well supported by Ciaran Coogan. The lads are down to play away Aghabog on Tuesday 2nd of July at 7.30pm.The Senior team are down to play Monaghan Harps on Saturday 29th of June at 1.15pm.Training continues again this Thursday at 7 pm and again on Tuesday at 6.15pm.
Under 12 Girls – The girls are training away on Monday night at 6 pm and again on Saturday at 12pm in anticipation of the start of their league .The girls will play in the South A division where they will have games against Aughnamullen, Donaghmoyne, Killanny, Latton and Magheraclone. The Club are awaiting the completed fixture list to be finalised.
Under 10 Boys – The boys have a series of Go Games tonight at 7 pm in Doohamlet , with Rockorry ,Sean’s ,Eire Og and Doohamlet making up the group. Training will continue on Saturday morning at 10 am in the football field .The next series of Go Games will be on Saturday 13th of July in Cloghan at 9.30 am.
Under 10 Girls – Pride of the week has to be with our Under 10 Girls team , over the last seven days they have completed in two Go Games Blitzes for the Girls .The first was as series of games in St Mary Park when they played really well and then last Saturday they made the short trip to the Doohamlet where they played four more matches, these are a talented bunch of young ladies and we would encourage all club supporters to go out and watch them over the summer. Training continues on Monday nights at 6 pm and again at 12pm on Saturday. Well done to the Doohamlet Ladies for organising a well run Go Games session.
Under 8 Boys – The boys travelled to Ballybay last Saturday for the Go Games , with a number of the older boys unavailable it give the younger under 8 lots of game time .Eddie Murphy and his management team were extremely impressed with the talent and effort that they saw coming from this very young Faughs team. Best on the day was Cian Malone,Shane Miller, the Mc Donnell brothers Jake and Ben who were supported by their cousin Alfie Hughes who followed his father Jazza in donning the famous Green and Gold Jesery for the first time. Well done this week to David Lambe and Jamie Ward on winning this week’s awards. The Boys have a series of Go Games tonight at 7 pm in Doohamlet , with Rockorry ,Sean’s ,Eire Og and Doohamlet making up the group.
Under 6 – Training will be in the field again on Thursday night at 6 pm .Everyone is welcome to attend.
Congratulations – This week we saw two of our young footballers win Gold in the County Monaghan Community Games, well done to Joey Hughes on wining the Under 12 600 metres and to Jack Callan who won the Under 14 800 metres. We also had a number of other club players who competed extremely well at the County Finals, Well done to all.
