Monaghan’s senior hurlers lost out to Tyrone in the Nicky Rackard Cup on Saturday (see match report).

Scotstown now have seven consecutive wins in the Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League after they eased to victory away to Castleblayney on Sunday. Kieran Hughes scored a goal in each half to lead the way for Scotstown, who are now five points clear at the top. Clontibret led from start to finish against Doohamlet, with John Paul Mone scoring their goal from a penalty, meaning Barry McGinn’s goal for the visitors came too late. The game between Magheracloone and Ballybay was abandoned in the early stages of the second half. Latton v Monaghan Harps was postponed, as was the bottom-of-the-table clash of Carrickmacross and Rockcorry.

Monaghan Electrical

Truagh continued their impressive form in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League with a convincing win over bottom-of-the-table Aughnamullen. Goals by Niall Coyle and Mark Counihan were key for Truagh, who brought on Barry Cuddy for his first appearance after a long injury absence. Currin remain second after scores from Jack McCarron, Stephen Smyth and Dick Clerkin led them to a win over Cremartin, while Inniskeen and Corduff moved into a share of third place. Inniskeen, who were spearheaded by ten points from Ronan Meegan, recovered from conceding two early goals to Shane Treanor and Peadar Farrelly to win in Tyholland, while Corduff finished strongly to get the better of Drumhowan. Sarto Quigley and Fintan Kelly found the net to set Clones on their way to a three-point win over Donaghmoyne.

Eurotech

Emyvale are out on their own at the top of the Eurotech Junior Football League after they edged out Seán McDermotts. Despite being reduced to 14 men early in the second half, Emyvale hit the last three points to move onto ten points, one more than Blackhill, who were convincing winners against Scotstown. Sunday’s other games – between Aghabog and Killanny and Toome and Oram – were postponed, while Éire Óg beat Killeevan on Saturday.

Rockcorry had a narrow win over Castleblayney in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football League Division 2B on Friday.

GRM Minor Football League Division One leaders Carrickmacross lost their 100% record when they lost to Magheracloone on Friday, while Scotstown had a convincing win over Emyvale and the game between Monaghan Harps and Truagh was postponed.

Silver Hill Foods

Monaghan Harps and Truagh will have home advantage in the Silver Hill Foods Development Hurling League semi-finals (against Clontibret and Inniskeen respectively) after their wins over Inniskeen and Clontibret on Thursday, while Castleblayney finished with a win against Carrickmacross.
