A relatively quiet weekend of club fixtures lies ahead, due to the bank holiday, but there is still action in a number of competitions spread out over the next week.
The penultimate round of the Silver Hill Foods Development Hurling League takes place on Thursday. Leaders Monaghan Harps have home advantage against Clontibret, while Carrickmacross and Inniskeen host Truagh and Castleblayney respectively. There are also games in the Silver Hill Minor Hurling League on Sunday, when Castleblayney play Clontibret and Truagh Harps take on Carrickmacross.
The opening games of the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football Championships take centre stage on Friday evening. Castleblayney start their bid for a fifth successive O’Duffy Cup away to 2010 finalists Tyholland, while Monaghan Harps host Magheracloone in the only all-Division 1A match. Scotstown travel to Cremartin and the other game is a local derby between Ballybay and Drumhowan. In the Crawley Cup, Carrickmacross, Donaghmoyne and Oram are at home to Killeevan, Truagh and Rockcorry respectively, while Corduff face Castleblayney on Saturday. In the Reserve Cup Division Three, the games are between Blackhill and Éire Óg and Clontibret and Killanny and there is also a Reserve Football League Division Three fixture between Emyvale and Currin.
There is a rescheduled match between Killanny and Monaghan Harps at Inniskeen in the McElvaney Recycling Under-21 Football League Division Two on Saturday.
Rockcorry and Latton play their previously postponed Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League game on Sunday, while Monaghan Harps host Clontibret on Monday. Wednesday’s schedule sees leaders Scotstown go to Rockcorry, Magheracloone host neighbours Carrickmacross, Latton take on Castleblayney and Ballybay make the short trip to Doohamlet.
The joint-leaders of the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League go head-to-head in Truagh and Donaghmoyne on Wednesday, while Clones, Corduff, Inniskeen and Tyholland have home games against Cremartin, Currin, Aughnamullen and Drumhowan respectively.
Two of the teams who share top spot in the Eurotech Junior Football League cross swords when Emyvale make the lengthy journey to Killanny on Wednesday, while fellow front-runners Seán McDermotts and Aghabog are up against Oram and Éire Óg. The other games have Blackhill and Scotstown at home to Killeevan and Toome.
Carrickmacross will attempt to stretch their winning run in the GRM Minor Football League Division One to five games when they host Emyvale on Tuesday. Scotstown and Truagh clash in a local derby, while Magheracloone travel to Monaghan Harps.
MFL Division Two leaders Cúchulains Sarsfields are at home to Clontibret, while Cremartin, Latton and St. Patrick’s entertain Seán McDermotts, Killanny and Donaghmoyne respectively.
Division Three table-toppers St. Tiarnach’s are up against Inniskeen, while Castleblayney meet Killeevan and Doohamlet tackle Emerald Sarsfields.
There is the usual busy programme in the Gerry’s Prepared Veg. juvenile competitions. The Under-14 Football Championship Division One Final takes top billing in Blackhill on Saturday evening, when Monaghan Harps and Killanny battle it out for a place at Féile.
