Blayney Hurling Club Notes

Training:

U6/U8/U10;

Training is at Concra Field all for young Hurlers on Wednesday evening’s

U-6 ,U-8 &U-10 at 6.15pm

Under 12

Our U12s played an away challenge match against a strong Keady team on Monday night. On what was a very cold May evening, both teams put up a very competitive display and while Keady came out top, if we could have converted more of our chances it would have been a fairer reflection of the evening. There were a lot of positives to take from the game, particularily the performance of Conor Brennan in the full back line and the hard work of Aiden Goodman and Peter McGinn further further up the field. It gives us a good platform to build from over the next few weeks and as we prepare for the Monaghan League in June.

Training continues at 6.15pm on Wednesday evenings at Concra

Under 14
The U-14’s will be playing in a final at 1o’clock  in Breffni Park, on Wednesday 29th May, in the Ulster Handcraft Hurleys competition final round up.

We would like to wish the lads the best of luck at this.

They play their last match in the Monaghan league tonight against Inniskeen. Details of semi-Finals for this not available as yet.

The trials for the U-14 County Development  Squad will be coming up soon. The managers from each club will be recommending players to represent their club at County Level.

This is a terrific honour to be recommended and even better picked for the final squad. We hope that some of our players will be picked for this.

The lads had a very good match last Wednesday against Cootehill and while Cootehill were a lot stronger physically, our lads give an excellent account of themselves and went down fighting to the final whistle. An excellent display from Colin Merrick, Declan Hughes, Stephen Mc Nally, Jordan Carville and Joshua Mone.

Managers man of the match was Logan Mc Quillian who had his best game this year playing in the middle of the field.

The u14 Ulster Feille will be held in Derry this year on the 22nd and 23rd of June. No fixtures available as yet.

POC  FADA.

Hugh Byrne,Ronan Mc Ateer  and Alan Nugent represented the club at County Poc Fada competition in Cloghan last weekend with Hugh winning the senior section Alan coming runner up in the U-16. Hugh goes on to represent Monaghan in the Ulster Poc Fada in the  Divis  Mountain on the 21 June.

And exciting game of hurling .
