Who wants to be a Thousandaire  –  Monday night saw the official launch of this incredibly successful show in Sean’s Bar, Muckno Street, Castleblayney.  This show has attracted large audiences all over Ireland over the past seven years and is fast becoming the most popular source of fund-raising for schools and clubs.  This night provided the perfect photo opportunity with our eight main sponsors and also gave everyone present, a taster of how the show will run on Saturday the 8th June in the Glencarn Hotel.  Contestants are drawn from ticket sales and each contestant will play for €1000.  The show is fully computerised with 50/50, Ask the Audience and a brilliant video linked Phone a Friend. Tickets are now on sale from any member of the club and in local business around the town. See Castleblayney News for more detailed information.

Under 16 – This week’s team of the week has to be the Under 16, for a few years these boys have struggled to field as numbers at their age group were low but this year the Club took a new approach with the team and entered them into an eleven aside competition. This was then followed up with the appointment of a shrewd management team led by Malachy Keenan, Tom Miller, Ray McArdle, Cormac Brady and Joe O’Boyle. Last Thursday night’ game against Rockorry St. Marys Park wasn’t long in before Daniel Duffy struck for the first of a number of early goals as these boys put to practice what they have been working hard on while at the training ground over the last few weeks. Best for Faughs on the night was David Hughes, Ross Byrne, Ethan McCann and Daniel Duffy. Next up for the boys before the exam break is an away game tonight at 7.30pm versus Tyholland .

Under 14 Boys– The boys were down to play Fergal O’Hanlons last Friday evening but unfortunately the opposition were unable to field. Next up for this team is away game to Aughmullen on Saturday 1st of June with a throw in time of 12pm. It was great to see three of our under 14 panel make the County Development Squad, Joshua Walsh, Ryan McKernan and Colm Merrick. Well done boys, make sure you enjoy the experience. Training continues this week on Tuesday and Thursday at 6.15pm.

Under 14 Girls – The girls took on Killeavin last Monday night in what turned out to be a very enjoyable game. The team are progressing with each match and while they got beaten by a strong team they are showing great signs of development. It must also be remembered that this is quite a young team. Best on the night for the young ladies were Lauren Hughes, Nicole Maguire and Aoibhean Fitzsimons. Next Monday night the girls have an away game to Corduff.

Under 12 Boys– At time of print we have no fixtures for this Saturday. We will be make a welcome return this year to playing in Division 1 while our development team will be in Division 3A.We will update everyone at training this Thursday evening.

Under 10 Boys – The boys took part in the Go Games Series on Saturday morning out in Toome, overall they played well with some good performances coming from Joe Carey, Thomas Hughes  and Keelan McMahon. Tonight the boys play Cremartin in a challenge match and they will train on the pitch on Saturday morning at 10 am.

Under 8 Boys – There was great excitement in St Marys Park on Saturday morning as the Under 8’s played host to Crossmaglen. With over twenty five players from both clubs, it meant we could play numerous games, with all players getting lots of touches. The general view was that the two teams were evenly matched and there was definite signs of good progress with all players. This Saturday we have another round of Go Games for the boys, the venue and times will be confirmed by County Board during the week.

Derrynose Fun Run – Derrynose GAA have asked you to come out and support their 5/10 K run this Sunday morning at 1pm. Registration starts at 12 noon and will close at 12.45pm.  So why not get those runners on and come out and join in all the fun.
