Scotstown are top of the Drumlin Group of Credit Unions Senior Football League after they held off the challenge of neighbours Monaghan Harps on Wednesday. With Shane Carey scoring the only goal in the first half and Paul Grant, Darren Hughes, Orin Heaphey and Rory Beggan also among the scorers, Scotstown led by 1-6 to 0-5 at half-time against a Harps team whose entire first-half tally came from Donal Hahessy. The Blues added the first three points of the second half to lead by seven, but the Harps hit the last six, including fine scores from Neil McAdam and Conor Galligan, to force a nervy finish. Ballybay fell to their first defeat at home to Clontibret, despite leading by 1-5 to 0-5 at half-time, thanks to a Shane McGuinness penalty. Clontibret started the second half brightly to make it a closely-contested second half and although points by Dessie Ward, Drew Wylie and Christopher McGuinness looked to have got Ballybay over the line, Conor McManus scored a winning goal deep into injury-time for Clontibret. Magheracloone are up to second after their four-point win in Castleblayney. The Mitchells took charge early on with the wind at their backs and although 14-man Blayney made a game of it after the restart, they were unable to catch up. The games between Rockcorry and Doohamlet and Carrickmacross and Latton were postponed due to unplayable pitches.

Monaghan Electrical

With the table-toppers not in action in the Monaghan Electrical Intermediate Football League after the game between Currin and Truagh was postponed, Donaghmoyne and Corduff moved into a share of the lead with narrow wins over Aughnamullen and Inniskeen respectively. Clones got off the mark in impressive fashion away to Drumhowan, while the game between Cremartin and Tyholland also fell foul of the weather.

Eurotech

Seán McDermotts struck for three goals to edge out neighbours Éire Óg and take top spot in the Eurotech Junior Football League. Previous leaders Oram, whose game against Blackhill was called off, have now been joined in second by Aghabog, who eased to victory against Killeevan, and Emyvale, who battled past Scotstown. Toome v Killanny was also rained off.

St. Tiarnach’s are the early pace-setters in Division Three following their high-scoring defeat of Doohamlet, while Castleblayney got the better of Corduff and Emerald Sarsfields proved too strong for Killeevan.
