Ulster Minor Football League Final
Monaghan 1-10 Donegal 0-10 27/4/13
Monaghan won the Ulster MFL Final against Donegal in Enniskillen on Saturday. An Adam Treanor goal in the 35th minute separated the teams in a closely-contested match.
A Fearghal McMahon free got Monaghan up and running, but Conor Harkin brought Donegal level. A David McAlister point was quickly cancelled out by Eamon McGrath, only for two quick points by Conor McCarthy to restore Monaghan to the lead. Donegal hit three in quick succession through Peter McLaughlin, Aiden Sweeney and Darrach O’Connor, but scores by McAlister and McMahon had Monaghan ahead by 0-6 to 0-5 at half-time.
Donegal equalised at the start of the second half through Sweeney, but a fine point from McMahon and a goal by Adam Treanor put Monaghan in the driving seat. Donegal hit back, however, with two well-struck ‘45s by Conor McCormick, either side of a point from play by Lorcan Connor. McMahon hit two in a row (one free) and McAnespie moved Monaghan four clear and although O’Connor got the last score, Monaghan held on for a deserved win.
