DOOHAMLET GFC Notes
Seniors: Doohamlet 0 – 10 Scotstown 1- 10
Doohamlet entertained league leaders Scotstown at O’Neill Park on Sunday last and although fielding a very youthful side including three minors were more than a match for an in form Scotstown side. With three minutes remaining both sides were level and a draw looking the likely result but three late free kicks were converted and Scotstown were relieved to leave with their unbeaten run intact and remain top of the table.
Although with two games played and no points on the board Doohamlet can be very pleased with their performances to date. Colin Walshe has had a brilliant start to the season and inspires all around him with his reading of the game and his thrusts forward. Team Captain Kevin McArdle has had to sacrifice his natural position and cover in the full back line where Jason McElroy has also performed well. Greg Duffy and Ciaran Mc Manus have been immense at midfield covering a depleted defence and supplying our forwards where Mark Murphy, Ted Duffy, Ollie Hughes and Shane Mc Manus have had to bear the responsibility of getting our scores. Barry Mc Ginn was given his senior debut on Sunday last and Doohamlet Gaels got a glimpse of the potential this young player has. Doohamlet are playing a brand of fast possession football but our squad is very depleted at the moment. Five Senior players are currently on the treatment table but hopefully some of these players will return shortly and we can gain some league points and start climbing the table.
