Reserves: the reserves travelled to Toome on the 24th, Toome were unable to field a team on the night. There is a big gap now until their next game on the 5th of June against Eire Og which is a home fixture.
Minors; this team are now top of the league with a 100% record after three games. They had a great win against Killevan on Tuesday night last 7:13 to 4:11. The lads were away to Corduff on Tuesday last the 30th of April. Match report next week. Their next match is against Inniskeen in Eire Og on the 7th May throw in at 7:30pm. Keep up the good work lads and it’s great to see talent like this coming through, don’t get carried away and listen to your coaches and mentors. When you tell a good player he’s doing well he goes out and plays better and that’s what we want to see.
Under 16’s; the lads match against Emerald Sarsfields last Wednesday was a difficult assignment for the lads, missing a few key players Clones were beaten in Blackhill. This is an eye-opener for the boys following from two impressive wins this season. Their next match is against Aughnamullen on May 2nd at home support if you can.
Under 14’s; Training continues for the lads as usual with their next fixture in Currin against Scotstown on the 18th May.
Under 12’s – The U12’s both played their final games in the Spring League against Monaghan Harps on Saturday morning in St Tiarnachs Park. Team B got off to a slow start in the first period however they competed well in the second & third periods losing out in the end to a strong Harps team. Reece & Oisin Kearns were tireless for the entire game, Hannah Mealiff showed great courage in goal with some brave saves. However it was Niall McKenna who shone through in defence with a solid much improved performance and richly deserved high praise from his coaches. Team A lost out in a much tighter game and to their credit played never gave up the fight until the final whistle. Tiernan Kearns & Jamie McQuillan epitomised the never give up spirit with strong performances, Jamie in particular improving with every game & showing great leadership qualities that bode well for the future.
Juvenile; Our U8’s competed in a Juvenile blitz competition on Saturday last in Clontibret. They participated very well and there can be no doubt that there’s lots of talent coming through.
Eugene Hamill will be in SuperValu with the Sam Maguire Photographs next Saturday the 4th May, call in and collect your professional images.
Break-in: The window on Fermanagh St. was broken into over the weekend. Two Club jerseys and an O’Neill’s polo shirt were taken. Have parents noticed a new jersey at home? Anyone with any information are asked to contact the chairman, information will be treated with the utmost confidence. It’s not too late to leave them back either. This is a serious matter and the Gardai have been contacted.
Club Merchandise: We launched the club merchandise last week, Joanne Reihill presented the range which includes Jackets, Hoodies, Polos, Jerseys etc. available in all sizes and at competitive prices, included in the range is the O’Neills brand, which we all know is very hard-wearing. These are available for order and are on display in Morgans’ window on Fermanagh St. If there’s any confirmation money left after last weekend you could do worse than invest in the club merchandise.
Best wishes to Daragh McDermott. We wish him a speedy recovery following a scare on Wednesday night last in the game against Emerald Sarsfields in Blackhill. Dargah will be missed on the team while he’s out; ach gan dabht a bheidh tú ag imirt ar ais peile go luath. With any luck he’ll get the all clear and will be back in the blue and white very soon. Thanks to the medical staff on the night for their speedy assistance.
First Aid: Martina will be giving a basic First aid course on the 11th May up in the field. It will take most of the morning to complete but it’s essential that as many team coaches and perhaps adult players take this course for both the clubs benefit and their own. Knowledge is power and let’s face it who wouldn’t want to know what to do in an emergency?
