The four lucky dip winners of €50 each were Vincent Irwin, Lake View, Madge Doherty, Drumillard, Robert Irwin, Carrick Road and Grey Duffy, Doohamlet. There was no Jackpot winner this week. Next week’s draw will take place on Tuesday the 7th May in the Spinning Wheel. Good luck to everyone and many thanks for your continued support.

Seniors – The seniors faced Rockcorry last night (Wednesday), result and report in next weeks’ notes. Next Wednesday 8th May we travel to Latton for a 7.45PM throw-in.

Junior B – The Bs are in championship action on Friday night when they take on Tyholland in the 1st round of the O’Duffy Cup. The game takes place in Tyholland with a 7.15PM throw-in.

Junior C – Last week was a bad week for the Cs with losses to both Aughnamullen and Seans. They also enter the championship fray this weekend with a Crawley Cup tie away to Corduff on Saturday evening at 7.15PM.

Who wants to be a Thousandaire – On Saturday 8th June 2013, Castleblayney Faughs will host the hugely popular “Who wants to be a Thousandaire” to The Glencarn Hotel. This show has attracted large audiences all over Ireland over the past seven years. Contestants will be drawn from ticket sales and each contestant will have the opportunity to play for €1000. The show is fully computerised with 50/50,” Ask the Audience” and a brilliant video linked “Phone a Friend”. If chosen to participate, you have the option of taking to the stage to play or nominating someone to represent you on the night. This is an excellent opportunity to put your general knowledge to the test while enjoying the craic and banter of what promises to be a brilliant night. Much more information to follow in the coming week.

Minor team– The Minors played Emmet Sarsfield (Combination of Oram and Blackhill) on Tuesday night out in Blackhill. Training will again take place on Friday at 7pm and again on Sunday at 5pm.

Under 16 – At last the wait is over, these boys have been training hard over the watchful eye of Mal Keenan, Tom Miller, Ray McArdle, Cormac Brady and Joe O’Boyle for the last six weeks.  Attendance and enthusiasm at training has been good to date, let’s hope that the boys get off to a good start tonight away to Aghabog at 7pm.

Under 14 Girls – After a long wait, Ladies football officially got off the ground last Monday night as the Girls under 14 team took to the field for the first time against local neighbours Doohamlet. This was a historic night for both the Girls and the Club as it was the first time we had officially entered a ladies competition as the Castleblayney Faughs. The girls got off to a slow start, with players getting use to mud rather than astro turf and also adjusting to the pace of a real game. At half time they must have received some inspiration from the management team of Darren McQuillan, Fiona Borden, Brona Hanratty and Pauline Devlin as they came out a transformed team. The girls showed great “Faughs” determination and while they narrowly lost the second half, they can feel very proud of themselves. Best on the night for the girls were Aine Clarke, Sally Maloney and Erin Brady. Training will take place at 12 pm on Saturday in the field with a home match against Aghabog next Monday night at 6.45pm, can we encourage all the parents to attend.

Under 14 Boys– The boys were down to play Donaghmoyne at home in St. Marys Park this week, but due to clashes of several sporting fixtures it was postponed until further notice. The boys play Toome tonight in a challenge match. This is a very young team and to date they have been putting in a great effort, we would appreciate if you could get out to cheer them on each week.

Under 12 Girls -The Girls Under 12 team took part in the Ulster development blitz in Cloghan on Saturday 27th April. These girls were very competitive in all their games and produced some very good performances. An enjoyable day was had by all. We are awaiting confirmation and a fixture list for the girls U12 competition, which will be starting soon. Good attendance at training is required and new members are always welcome.

Under 12 Boys – It was a really busy week for our Under 12 team last week with both teams in action twice over the last seven days. Last Tuesday both teams were at home to Inniskeen, in a very entertaining evening of football.  The boys emerged victorious in both games. On Saturday we made the journey to Latton, for what also proved to be another morning of great football. Latton proved to be very strong opposition for both teams but the Faughs strong work ethic and desire to win proved greatest in what was a great battle. The most pleasing aspect for the Under 12 management this week was the improvement in the overall team performance, with improvements by all players who participated. Next up for the boys will be the finals of the Spring League in Cloghan on the 11th of May. Training will again take place on Tuesday and Thursday at 6.15pm.

Under 8 and Under 10 Girls –Training continues for all age groups at 7pm on Monday night at the Astroturf at Our Lady’s Secondary School.

Under 10 Boys – Training this week is on Thursday at 7pm and again on Saturday in the field at 10am to 11.15am.The boys next Go Games will be on May 15th in Toome.

Under 8 – The boys played in the Go Games in St. Marys Park on Saturday morning along with over one hundred children from Cremartin, Latton, Monaghan Harps and Carrick all participating. This was the third week of games for our under 8 team and again they really showed further improvement. Training will take place tonight (Thursday) and on Saturday morning we will be moving to the football field for training starting at 10am sharp and finishing at 11.15am. Can we encourage all parents to make sure that their children are in attendance.

Under 6 – Training will continue on Thursday in Rath Na Og from 6pm to 7pm, we encourage all new players to come along and join in. The training programme run by the coaches helps develop the agility, balance and coordination of the children but even more importantly acts as a place for young children to make new friends.

Club Maith Platinum Award – This Saturday at 11am, the Club will be officially presented with the coveted Platinum Award in the “Club Maith” Programme. This is in recognition of the Clubs demonstration that we are a fully integrated, community-based GAA Club.  Castleblayney Faughs are the first Club in Monaghan to be awarded the special Platinum and join Warrenpoint, Co Down as been the only other holder of the Platinum award in Ireland at present.
