Senior League

Truagh        2 – 9

Clontibret   1 – 3

Early scores for Truagh left Clontibret chasing the opening League  game of the Season  which was played in St. Mellans Park on Monday evening last.

With just four minutes on the clock Joanne Meehan had rattled the net for Truagh and minutes later Eilish Mc. Carron converted a’ 45, Yvonne Connell put her footballing skills into action when she added another point to the scoreboard shortly after.

Clontibrets backs warded off several Truagh attacks until Michelle Morgan got the break when she sprinted from midfield to put one between the posts  for her side and Marie Greenan converted a free minutes later.

Siobhan Mc. Kenna had goal on her mind when she was fouled in front of the Truagh goals and Eilish Mc. Carron  duly converted the free. Orla Mc. Meel  did the honours in a similar event in the 19th. Minute.

Clontibret’s Michelle Morgan earned herself a goal once again as she pillaged the Truagh defence and Orla Mc. Meel completed the halftime scores with another converted point for Truagh to put them three ahead at the break.

Siobhan Mc. Kenna  raised the green flag in the opening seconds of the second half when she intercepted a Joanne Meehan pass . Yvonne Connell split the Clontibret defence in the 11th minute to put another between the posts. Siobhan  Mc. Kenna and Marie Greenan cancelled other out with points for either side and Orla Mc. Club Notes

Castleblayney

Castleblayney Senior Team got their first two points in the Monaghan league on Sunday as they faced Inniskeen. It was great to see a few faces returning to the squad and also a number of younger players such as , Jessica Cullen, Orlaith Maguire, Rebecca Treanor, Siobhan Mc Bennett and Ciara Kelly, who are making the step up to senior level this year.  They face Cullyhanna in the second game of the Armagh League on Monday evening and this is a home game for the girls.

Training continues every Wednesday at 5 and  Sunday at 1 in the hurling field.

Also Best Wishes To Rachael Markey who celebrates her birthday on Tuesday

Inniskeen

The Senior team had their first outing in the county league against Castleblayney last Sunday.  Although the result did not go Inniskeen’s way it was a good performance at this early stage in the year given the number of players on the injured list.  Our participation in the Louth senior league commences this week with an away match to St. Kevins. This is followed on Tues 16th with a home, county league match against Clontibret. Players will be notified of details by text. Training continues every week and any new or past players interested in coming along is more than welcome. A big welcome back to Olivia B, great to see Olivia back in the red and green.

The underage season begins next week and starts off with U8 & U10 training on Tues 16th, 7 – 7.45pm in Pairc Grattan. Parents are asked to stay at the pitch for the duration of training. This year, we have entered our U12 and U14 teams in the Louth league. The U12s will play a number of blitzes before the competition begins. The first of these blitzes takes place next week in St Brides, Knockbridge. Parents will receive a text with details. Our U14s begin their Louth campaign with an away match against Cooley on May 2nd. Training starts next week and parents will be notified by text.  This is a great opportunity for our underage camÓgs to play competitively and we hope as many parents as possible will come along to support the teams.

The Camogie county board held their fundraising table quiz last Friday in Blackhill. Well done to the Inniskeen teams who attended and to Bernie, Pat, Ciarán and Darragh who finished in 3rd place.

The club would like to extend its congratulations to Isabel and Ciarán on their recent engagement
