Shamrock Cup Under-21 Football Final
Monaghan v Tyrone, Wednesday, 7.45, Emyvale
Monaghan’s Under-21 footballers will bid to win the Shamrock Cup for the first time since 2010 when they take on Tyrone in the final at Emyvale on Wednesday night.
Monaghan have had an encouraging campaign so far, with three straight wins over Tyrone, Antrim and Down seeing them top the group ahead of Tyrone, who also proved too strong for Antrim and Down. Monaghan are just two weeks away from their Ulster championship quarter-final against defending champions Cavan, while Tyrone are perennially strong at this grade, having beaten Monaghan in the last two finals of this Cremartin-organised competition.
Rory Beggan, Pete Dooney, Shane Carey, Johnny McGuigan, Conor Boyle, Daniel and Pádraig McKenna, Keith McEnaney and Ryan Wylie are key players for Finbarr Fitzpatrick’s Monaghan team, who are likely to be without injured forward Jack McCarron. Tyrone can call on players of the calibre of county seniors Conor Clarke and Rónán O’Neill, as well as Conan Grugan, Ryan Devlin, Richard Donnelly and Harry Óg Conlon, so a high-quality and competitive game should be on the cards.
* Brew Crew Cafe will be on site to serve hot refreshments to keep the crowd warmed up!
