Results.  RFL Div 2B   Oram 0 – 8   Seans 4 -11

Fixtures. Sun 10th March… RFL Div 2B…  Sean V Aughnamullen at 2.00pm venue TMH.

Adult Team news.   Our reserve team got their campaign off to a successful start with a comprehensive victory over Oram on a score line of Oram 0 –  8 Seans  4 – 11.Oram’s tormentor in chief was veteran Paddy Kieran who rolled back the years to notch up a personal tally of  3 – 2. James Mc Aleer rowed in with a cracker of a goal from his midfield berth, and Fergal Mc Quillan got his name on the score sheet with a well finished point. Next week they have home advantage when they entertain Aughnamullen for a 2.00pm throw in.  Training continues on the usual nights and commences as always at 8.00pm sharp. In the junior league (Dr Ward Cup) competition which commences on Sunday 31st March our boys take on Scotstown in the opening game of that competition, throw in time is 4.00pm.A game not to be missed and one that is sure to attract a big number of spectators given the debate around the Blues entry this year into junior competitions.

Under 8/10.  Advance notice to children and parents involved in the Under 8/10 age groups. It’s planned to have an information/registration night in the complex on Friday 22nd March, and to begin outdoor activities after Easter on Saturday 6th April. As established in previous years sessions will be in the morning  running from 10.00am -11.00am, with the introduction of midweeks sessions on Wednesday evenings as soon as daylight hours allow and these will be from 6.45pm to 7.30pm. Coaching workshops to develop Under 6/8 coaches will be held in Scotstown on Thursday 7th and 14th March from 7-30 to 9-30. A similar workshop for Under10/12 will be held in St Macartan’s College on Wednesday 20th and 27th March also commencing at 7.30pm-9.30pm.

Cultural Night. Our Traditional Irish Music session takes place on the 2nd Friday of each month our next session takes place this Friday 8th March. We look forward to seeing you all there. Refreshments served. Everyone welcome!

Membeship. Club membership subscriptions are due now for renewal and should be paid to club registrar Marie Mc Entee ASAP. The membership fee remains at €20. With reserve competitions getting under way last Sunday most playing members have already subscribed, those who haven’t are reminded  subscriptions must be paid before they  can be selected or participate in any game.

Scór Sinsir: The Ulster semi-final of Scór Sinsir was held in our sport complex on Saturday night last 2nd March in front of a very large attendance. A great night’s entertainment saw two of the four clubs representing Monaghan Emyvale and Scotstown progressing to the Ulster Final; we wish both clubs all the best in their quest for provincial an All-Ireland honours. A special word of appreciation to all our club volunteers who helped ensured everything ran smoothly on the night.Thank you.

St. Patrick’s Night: A Traditional Irish Music session will be held on Sunday 17th March. Please keep this date, as it promises to be a great night, judging by the success of the regular monthly sessions.

Ceili Dancing. Ceili dancing classes which re commenced last week continue in the complex this Sunday at the usual time of 6.30pm -7.30pm. All young boys and girls are welcome and invited to come along and participate.

Totto. The numbers 3, 6,7,8,2,5,4,1 drawn on Monday night last for a jackpot prize of €7,400 were not correctly forecast. The lucky dip winners were Macartan Kieran Monaghan, Donal Morgan Drumsheeney, Felix Mc Elvaney Drumguill, Patrick & Maura Mc Cormick Killnaclay, Michael Treanor Monaghan, Evelyn & John Conaty Corcaghan, Seamus Kelly Aghabog, John Sherry Emyvale, Seamus Kelly Aghabog, and The Dearden Children Dunraymond. Next week’s jackpot €7,500.

Our weekly social members Totto draw is now entering a new term or year, since the draw was overhauled this is the beginning of its third year, as a result many people’s membership has expired. We thank all who have supported us, thus far; that generosity we hope will continue. To maintain and ensure the opportunity to win our handsome jackpot and the other weekly prizes on offer all members are required to renew their participation..

Bard of Oriel. Another night to pencil into the diary is Saturday 23 March!!! A festival of humour and verse come to the Complex for one night only commencing at 9.00pm sharp. Last year’s inaugural staging proved to be rib ticklingly entertaining, and with the calibre of participant already committed to this year’s event, these performances are not to be missed. Tickets are available from any committee member at a cost of €10. A night of fun and frivolity is guaranteed.

National Football league Draw. Congratulations to Shane McQuillan and Pascal Smyth who were the winners of the €50 for Rounds 2 & 3 of the players National Football league draw. Both Shane and Pascal predicted 12 correct results from a possible 16, no easy task when you look at some of the surprise results over the last two rounds. Round 4 is on this weekend and the prize money stands at €500 for a fully correct set of predictions. The tickets can be bought from any senior player or member of the management team. Remember if you’re not in, you……..!!
