Monaghan returned to winning ways in the NFL Division Three when they eased past Sligo in Clones last Sunday, while the ladies continued their winning start to the NFL Division One with a comfortable defeat of Donegal in Truagh.

St. Macartan’s College exited the Danske Bank MacRory Cup at the semi-final stage last Wednesday when they lost to an impressive St. Paul’s, Bessbrook team. The Sem fell 1-7 to 0-0 behind and despite a Fearghal McMahon-inspired comeback in the last ten minutes of the first half, the Armagh school pulled away once again in the second half to qualify for their first final.

Castleblayney lost to Tyrone side Eglish in the Quinn’s Corner Ulster Senior Football League on Sunday, while Aughnamullen were convincing winners at home to Greenlough from Derry in the Ulster IFL.

The domestic season got underway last weekend with action in the Platinum Tanks Reserve Football Leagues. Both games in Division 1A – between Latton and Magheracloone on Saturday and Monaghan Harps and Scotstown on Sunday – resulted in draws, while Truagh and Doohamlet had comprehensive wins over Drumhowan and Tyholland respectively in Division 1B. Inniskeen, Emyvale and Donaghmoyne had wins in Division 2A at the expense of Killeevan, Carrickmacross and Corduff respectively, with Seán McDermotts easing past Oram in Division 2B, where the other game saw Rockcorry draw with Castleblayney. Currin, Aghabog and Clontibret beat Toome, Killanny and Blackhill in Division 3.
