Reserve League

Magheracloone 2-6 Latton 1-9

In what proved an entertaining game to kick off the season, our Reserves went home fairly satisfied with a draw. It was a keenly contested game from the outset that could have went either way. Latton had a young, spirited team on show, with 11 under-21s starting. Young guns like Chistopher Rice and Thomas Lynch impressed from the start with the latter getting the opening score. Ryan Conlon bagged a cracking goal before the break to leave the half-time score: Magheracloone 1-3 Latton 1-4. The second half was a tense affair and after a second slackly-conceded goal Latton were on the back foot. However, with Darren McElroy on shooting form, they showed great determination and responded with character to fight back. Niall Traynor made a welcome return with a fine point to equalise at the end.

Team & Scorers: C.Brady, C.Lynch, R.Ward, K.Farrelly, C.Rice, N.Traynor(1pt), J.Nixon, F.Ward(c), J.McElroy(1pt), T.Lynch(1pt), P.Conlan, M.Duffy, R.Conlon(1goal), D.Duffy(1pt), D.McElroy(5pts). Sub used: P.Shannon. We have our second game in the league at home on Sunday against Monaghan Harps with a 2 o’clock throw in.
