Reserve football
Our B’s had their first outing of the year in Pairc Grattan last Saturday eve against Kileevan. The game got of to a blistering start with both teams going toe to toe until late in first half when Kileevan scored a goal which left us trailing at the break by 1-07 to 7 points.
The lads however produced an excellent second half performance and outscored Kileevan 1-08 to 1-02.
The Game tipped as a result of some excellent second half defending from team Captain Francis Mc Ardle, Joe Butler and Co.
David Mc Gahon and Niall Butler where dominant in midfield which in turn set up a good platform for Colm Meegan, Eugene Mc Ardle, Donal Meegan & Jarlath Mc Geeney to do damage, the latter (Mc Geeney) finishing with 1-02 to his tally.
The Game concluded with the score line: Inniskeen 1-15 Kileevan 2-09.
Our next outing is away to the “auld enemy” Donaghmoyne in April.
Please come and support the lads

Camogie Notes
Comhghairdeas Brigid – Monaghan Camogie Volunteer of the Year
Congratulations to our very own Brigid McKenna who was honoured as the Monaghan Camogie Volunteer of the Year at a prestigious awards ceremony held in Croke Park last Saturday.
This award was made in order to acknowledge the huge effort put in by many people in clubs within the county and the Inniskeen Camogie Club and Monaghan County Board took great pleasure in nominating Brigid.
Brigid McKenna joined Inniskeen Camogie Club just over four decades ago and epitomizes what Camogie is all about. She began her playing career with County Louth before she married local Inniskeen man Patsy McKenna and while Brigid moved into the parish of Inniskeen, camogie was put on hold for a number of years while she set about rearing her four children.
But the love of the game was still tugging at Bridget’s heart strings and it was Inniskeen’s gain when their best stalwart adorned the Inniskeen colors to join a very young squad.
She quickly settled in to her new position where the team went from strength to strength.
As the years progressed she was known to have what could be described as a “sports shop “in her car boot which she hauled throughout the County for all the games, from sticks, to tape, to plasters, to jerseys, and even “ Killanny” water no less.
Brigid was on hand; let it be celebrations or commiserations. But it is not just the contribution on the field; it is her enthusiasm in all things Camogie.
Having only recently retired from playing the game, Bridget is currently Honorary President of the club and has held numerous positions within the club and County Board over the years. She has been a role model for many camogs in the club and understands the importance of passing on the game to the next generation.
Had it not been for her example of dedication, commitment leadership, and organization, the club might not have survived.
The Entire GAA community would like to take this opportunity to Thank Bridget on her award.
Senior Training
Senior training has resumed under the watchful eye of Inniskeen hurler David McGahon. There was a good turnout last Monday evening and all attention is focused on the All County Blitz this Sunday. A big “welcome home” to Sharon McGahon who is back from Oz and hopefully has the travelling bug out of her system and will be around for the coming season!
Please note that Monday night training is purely Camogie skills and on Wednesday night the Camogie & Ladies Footballers will double up for fitness training.
Anyone interested in playing Camogie is more than welcome to join – whether it be just for fun, playing matches or just “having a go” please don’t hesitate in contacting Lorraine on 087 2785614
All County Blitz
The All County Blitz takes place this Sunday in Grattan Park, Inniskeen beginning at 11am sharp.
All players are requested to be at the pitch no later than 10.30am. Please let Lorraine know if you are unable to attend.
Registration Evening
Thank you to all the parents & players who attended the registration evening and joined up for the coming year. With a return to the long evenings it won’t be long ’til we’ll be back with underage training. Parents will receive notice in advance.
