Update on Coach Education and Coach Development Workshops

By michael Wed 13th Feb

Over the last number of weeks our coach education and development programme has got up and running in the county.  First up was Roger Keenen delivering “Speed Endurance with and Without the ball”.  We had a great turn out with over 50 coaches attending.  This workshop was then followed by “Developing Systems of Play” delivered by Terence Mc Williams.  With another good turn out with over 40 coaches taking part in this indoor interactive session.  Feedback on both courses were very positive and Monaghan Coaching and Games would like to thank the tutors and the Ulster Council for their assistance.

Our first coach education course got underway on the 8th/9th & 10th of February with the Level 1 Childrens Course.  Again an excellent turnout with over 20 coaches taking part representing over 10 clubs throughout the county.  The standard of coaching was very high from all the participants and were keen to learn and interact with each other.  Monaghan Coaching & Games and staff would like to thank the coaches, clubs, coaching officers and the tutors for making this a successful course.

Over the coming weeks there is a number of foundation courses and a level 1 youth and adult course planned.  To date the response to these courses has been very good and a limited number of places are still available.  Clubs/Coaching officers are encouraged to get names and contact details to Paul O Connor (086 8374827 – developmentmanager.monaghan@gaa.ie) as soon as possible.  If the demand is there, more courses will be made available.  Again we would like to thank everyone who has made the progarmme a success to date.
