Sean’s Notes

Adult Team news.  Team manager Adrian Larkin reports that training is going well and is optimistic that he will some be able to commence pitch based activities shortly. The boys will no doubt come under a little more scrutiny  as the new boss eyes up their ball handling ability. Training continues on the usual night and commences at 8.00pm sharp, indoor and outdoor footwear/ gear required.

Cultural Night.  Our monthly Traditional Irish Music session took place last Friday. This was a terrific night’s entertainment. It’s always great to have new musicians come along and take part in these sessions. It’s such a confidence booster for any budding talent. In addition, we were treated to beautiful singing from Tara Gillsenan. Truely outstanding. Thank you to all our local musicians, plus everyone who turned out in force, from Corcaghan and Monaghan C.C.É. branches. Thank you to Paula, Margot, Anne & Patricia, for the tasty treats and the cuppa tea!   So remember to keep the 2nd Friday free, next session takes place on Friday 8th March. We look forward to seeing you all there. Refreshments served. Everyone welcome!

St. Patrick’s Night: A Traditional Irish Music session will be held on Sunday 17th March. Please keep this date, as it promises to be a great night, judging by the success of the regular monthly sessions.

Scór Sinsir: The Scór County Final of Scór Sinsir will be held on Friday 22nd February in Clontibret; Our club participants will compete in the Question Time, Solo Singing Instrumental Music: we wish  our representatives Stephen Connolly, Peter Cullen Pat Kieran, Louise Keelan, Anne Morgan, Trish McElvaney, Rosaleen McElvaney, and Bronagh McCabe every success. We know they will do the club proud and we hope to see a big contingent of Sean’s followers in Clontibret giving them plenty of support and encouragement on the night.

 

Membeship. Membership subscriptions are now due for renewal and should be paid to club registrar Marie Mc Entee over the coming weeks. Our club membership fee remains at €20. Playing members are reminded too that they must have their subscriptions paid before they can be selected or participate in any games in the coming season.

Totto. The numbers 7, 2, 3, 4, 8,5,1,6 drawn on Monday night last for a jackpot prize of €7,100 were not correctly forecast. The lucky dip winners were Mickey & Margaret Mulligan Doohamlet, Patsy Mc Carron & Gerard Mc Entee Cards, Aine Kieran Drumsheeney, Derick Lynch Threemilehouse, Martin & Eileen Mc Mahon Killydonnelly, Paul Kelly Threemilehouse, Mc Namee Girls Tyholland, Noel Rice Cabra, Niall Prunty & Kasi Mc Mahon, Seamus Kelly Aghabog. Next week’s jackpot €7,200.

St Macartan’s Gala Ball. St Macartan’s College are celebrating 100 years of Gaelic Games in the college. To mark this milestone the college is inviting all past pupils to join them at a special Centenary Gala Ball on Saturday February 16th in the Hillgrove Hotel for a reunion of past pupils and teachers in what promises to be a night to be remembered. For details on how to book tickets or to assist in the organisation of a table for this unique event please contact the school office 047-81642.

Coaching Courses. Coaching course scheduled this month at Cloghan include a Foundation course this week end on Fri 15th and Sat 16th  February, the child protection workshop is on Friday from 7.00-10.00pm while the Saturday session is an inter active outdoor one which runs from 9.30- 4.30pm. A Level 1 Youth/Adult course is on week ending Fri/Sat/Sunday 24th Feb with the Sunday session from 9-30- 4.30pm all other times are as per the Foundation course times.

On Wednesday 27th February Tony Scullion is the facilitator involved in Games to develop Football U16 to Senior, this is an interactive session based on small-sided, conditioned and full-sided games to improve aspects of team play. Sessions run from 7.30 -9.00pm anyone interested in attending any of the above sessions or courses should contact Sean Mc Elvaney.
