Railway Cup: Darren Hughes captained Ulster to a narrow one point victory against Munster on Sunday last in Armagh. Kieran Hughes also featured as a second half substitute. Ulster will now play Leinster in the M Donnelly Inter-Provinicial Football Championship Final next Sunday 24th February at Croke Park, with a 3.45pm throw in.

Scotstown GAA draw: The club are embarking on major developments at the Kilmore East training grounds, and this fundraising draw will be the major source of the income required to match the funding already secured through grants. The first prize in the draw is a top of the range Seat Ibiza car, with the second prize a “get away from it all” luxury cruise. There are cash prizes of €1000, and two of €500 and the sixth prize in the draw will be for a pair of 2013 All-Ireland Football Final tickets. Tickets for the draw are available from committee members priced at €20 each, or three for €50. The draw itself will take place in August.

Juvenile Registration: Registration for U12, U14 and U16 players will take place this Sunday, February 24th at 7pm in the Complex. Registration fees are €10 per player, and a maximum of €20 per family.

Club Membership: Club membership fees for 2013 can now be paid to Frankie McCarey, Cormac Sherry or Matt McCrudden. The fee is €30 for adults, and €10 for juveniles. Corporate membership is available for €150 which also includes Ciste subscription for the year, and entry to all home games for the season.

Bookings: The Social Centre at Scotstown Complex is available to book for functions. For more information, or to make a booking contact Stephen McKenna on 087-8507053.

Sem Gala Ball: Saint Macartan’s College, Monaghan celebrated 100 years of Gaelic Games in the college in style at the weekend with past pupils attending a special Centenary Gala Ball on Saturday night in the Hillgrove Hotel. The mood of celebration was boosted by a hard won victory in the MacRory Cup quarter-final earlier in the day, with a strong Scotstown representation helping Saint Macartan’s to a  one point victory over Saint Patrick’s, Dungannon. Well done to all involved, and good luck to the team in the semi-final.

Congratulations: Well done to Ballybay clubman Martin McAviney, who is the newly appointed President of the Ulster Council, and to John Connolly of Currin, the newly elected Ulster PRO.

Adult Handball Championship: The week ahead will determine the fate of four of our adult handballers in the county championship. On Saturday night there is a double bill in Monaghan when Emmet Caulfield faces Martin Clerkin in the Novice 3 Championship Final and Mickey Eoin plays Tim Oliver in the Novice 2 Championship Final and both those games will probably go down to the wire. Also at the weekend Paul Cassidy plays Cormac Sherry in an all Tydavnet Novice 1 County Final in Bawn this Friday at 8pm. We wish all our competitors the very best of luck in the finals.

Ulster Juvenile Handball: The Tydavnet Handball Club had some great success in the Ulster Juvenile Championships at Kingscourt at the weekend. In the U15 Singles semi-final Conor Leonard defeated Cavan’s Shane McVeety and will now face Jordan Murtagh from Armagh in the final. In the U15 Doubles Tydavnet’s James McCague and Martin Mullan from Monaghan Harps defeated first Down, and then Armagh opposition in a three game thriller 12 -15, 15-8, 15-11 and will now play Tyrone in the Ulster final. In the U16 semi-final, Tydavnet’s Conor Mohan and Gary Treanor from Saint Mellan’s defeated Down opposition and will now play Tyrone in the Ulster final. Meanwhile in the U14 Doubles, Tydavnet’s Ronan King and Killian Sherry defeated Antrim opposition before falling to Armagh in the semi-final 15-12, 15-14. Casey Treanor is also already through to the Ulster final. Well done to all our players, and good luck in the Ulster Finals which are scheduled for Kingscourt on Saturday 9th March starting at 10.30am.

Ladies Training: Senior, Minor and Under 16 training continues every Tuesday at 7pm in the Complex. Full attendance is expected.

Ladies Under 12: A presentation night for this group of players will be coming up soon – keep an eye on the Club Notes for exact time and date.

Sympathy: The Ladies Club would like to extend sincere sympathy to the Cadden family on the recent death of Aidan – may he rest in peace.

Condolences: Sympathy is extended to the friends and family of the recently deceased who include Aidan Cadden, Carrowhatta and Brian Boylan, Stracunnion.
