National Football League: Monaghan made an encouraging start to their 2013 League campaign with a win at home to Meath on Sunday. Darren & Kieran Hughes were the Scotstown representatives on the team. Next up is a trip to Cavan this Saturday night throwing in at 7pm.
Spring Coaching Courses: February sees a range of various coaching courses being presented in order to assist in the development of our coaches. Anyone interested in taking on a role with our juvenile teams this year is encouraged to complete at least one of the courses available, depending on their level of completion to date. 1: Foundation level course is on Fri 15th and Sat 16th of February; 2: Level 1 Children Course is on Fri 8th, Sat 9th and Sun 10th of February; 3: Level 1 Youth Adult is on Fri 22nd, Sat 23rd and Sun 24th of February. Anyone who wishes to accept a place at any of these courses is asked to contact David McCague on 087-6202242 to book their place.
Juvenile Team Management: There will be a meeting concerning juvenile team management for the year ahead tonight Thursday, February 7th at 8pm. Anyone interested in managing under-12, under-14 or under-16 teams is invited to attend.
Club Membership: Club membership fees for 2013 can now be paid to Frankie McCarey, Cormac Sherry or Matt McCrudden. The fee is €30 for adults, and €10 for juveniles. Corporate membership is available for €150 which also includes Ciste subscription for the year, and entry to all home games for the season.

Sem Gala Ball: Saint Macartan’s College, Monaghan celebrate 100 years of Gaelic Games in the college this year. To mark this milestone, the college is inviting all past pupils to a special Centenary Gala Ball on Saturday, February 16th in the Hillgrove Hotel. There are many past pupils within the club, and this is a great opportunity for them to support their “alma mater”. All proceeds will go to the redevelopment of the “bottom pitch”. Conversational Irish: The Ciorcal Gaeilge continues each Tuesday night at 8:30pm in the Sports Complex, Scotstown. It’s an informal meeting for adults who wish to learn, use or brush up on their “cúpla focail”. Fáilte roimh gach duine!
Ladies Club Parents Meeting: An important meeting will take place for parents of all members playing football with Scotstown Ladies on Monday the 18th of February at 8pm in Scotstown Complex. A large attendance is expected to discuss the future of your children playing for the club.
Ladies County Trials: U16 trials at 2.00pm this Saturday, U14 trials at 12.30pm this Saturday in both in Aughnamullan.
Senior and Minor Ladies: Players meeting this Sunday the 10th of February at 3pm in Scotstown Complex – a full attendance expected.
Ladies Senior, Minor and U16: Indoor training continues this Tuesday at 7.00pm in Scotstown Complex, make sure to bring runners and water.
Adult Handball: A lot of action in the men’s adult championship during the week. In the novice 3 championship, Emmet Caulfield defeated fellow club man Conor Holohan in a cracker of a match that went to three games and Emmet is now in the novice 3 final. In novice 2 Mickey Eoin travelled to town to play Corduffs Niall O’Reilly and Mickey Eoin won a bruising encounter and now meets Tim Oliver in the final and what a game that should be. In novice 1 we had two players in the semi-finals, namely Paul Cassidy and Cormac Sherry and both came through their respective matches and will meet head on in the novice 1 final. In the junior semi-final Patrick McMahon takes on Eamon Todd this week in what should be another great match.
Juvenile Handball Leagues: With just one more night left in the juvenile leagues the four semi-finalists in both grades should be known after Tuesday night’s round of games.
